I have just started doing this at a house that my husband and I are flipping to sell. Sense this house needs a lot of up date we have decide to move in while fixing it up. I am soo enjoying being here. The lady who owned it before left lots of pots, and gardening supplies. She had a wine barrel with no bottom on it so started taking the soil that was already in it and started adding shredded paper, all the old leaves around the property and using my pruning shears and cutting up the leaves, adding leaves ect from plants I am having to replant, food scraps and will be adding the old food from the apartment that is also on property. I have not seen any worms yet but they will come eventually. I have a few black pots I am going to start working on as well.

Awesome Video, just one idea. If you plant Blue Berries round the Pine Trees they should do really well. It will help with pine root control as if you mulch around the Blue Berries it will be always damp and the pine roots will not send out so many water searching roots. The Blue Berries will just love the soil where pine needles fall.

Too funny, guess I was doing more composting in place than I realized, as I have a raised bed where I’m growing Eggplant, Okra (mistake, they’re too big & need their own container, room to spread out w/out blocking sun from other plants), Bell Peppers, Green Onions..and every 2wks approx.I go back in to the bed and toss in/add a bunch of scraps (veggies cut up+shrimp shells, paper towels cut up, etc.), between the plants, then I add worm castings and soil on top of it all to cover it up (cover to deter any flies, Scavengers, Etc - U shouldn’t smell anything or you’re composting the wrong stuff or didn’t cover your scraps up w/enough soil)+then I water it all w/some Azomite in the water, and all the plants just grow like crazy over the next few weeks until I do it again! Composting in place isn’t hard, so long as you’re mindful that when the scraps decompose it causes heat & to keep the heat away from being too close to either Your plants or their roots. Composting in place is a down+dirty way to add nutrients to your soil...You DO however, change the PH Levels of Your soil so If You’re crazy about where Your Ph Levels need be, then composting in place will likely drive You bonkers trying to readjust your Ph Levels as Your soil moves thru the decomposition process..Another Great Video, Thanks, I enjoyed (as I always do) watching & learning from your experiences! Good Luck w/Your Green Growing Things & Stay Safe & Healthy Out There!..*smiles*
