I’m shocked they broke down in our warm Dallas sunshine in 3 weeks!! The most beautiful compost ever and it did not smell! I’m so excited to make more dirt. I just began planting my garden totes. Dear Robbie, I have missed you! You nourish my soul with your wonderful gardening ways. Last May 2022 I fell getting out of the tub and cracked 3 ribs and tailbone, then February 2 severely burned my foot on a space heater in, then recently tipped a skillet of smoking hot oil on top of my hand. Needless to say I have been depressed and living in my recliner 😢 Spring is sprouting here in southern Indiana and just getting well enough to start working on my tote garden. You encourage me to putter in my garden. Like 1 UK Gardener says do a little often. I know it always makes me feel better. I love you so much. You have no idea how you have helped me. With all my heart I thank you thank you thank you 🌹🌹🌹🌹

I was so impressed by the way 'Robbie's Continuous Composting Technique' improved yields from my courgette plants last year, I started adding kitchen waste to several totes and large pots a few weeks ago, ready for when the season starts to warm up. By the time it's safe to put courgette plants outside in late May/early June, there should already be a decent level of semi-composted material ready to get them going. I'm looking forward to a much better yield this year!

For 2 weeks I've been saving my kitchen scraps. And this is what I ended up with-8 egg shells and some used coffee grinds. Being from the old school of waste not/want not, I cook exactly what I'll eat within 3 days. No left overs. So, my new soil will have to consist of grass clippings, sticks, leaves, and last years veggie stems from my totes, buckets, and pot containers. I'm not sure if I should be proud or sad. Ha

It made so much difference to my plant yields too. When I lived in the south of England, I never had a problem with growing vegetables. Tomatoes and courgettes - just put them in the ground and off they went. As soon as I moved to Scotland, they consistently failed. Of course, I put the whole problem down to being further north: colder, more rain, more clouds and a lot, lot more wildlife. But it was really beginning to irk me that every year I would get nothing but flowers from my courgettes. I'd given up with the tomatoes already. Tried Robbie's technique, when it was getting close to the end of our growing season, and it was a total game changer. Not just flowers - but actual courgettes at last, and a good size too.

I live in a townhouse so a little worried about odors or critters but excited to see how it turns out. We also drilled a few extra holes for drainage. I used kitchen scraps, tp rolls, leaves, old catfish , and dumped the soil from an old flower pot.

I find it amazing that you can put all kinds of green matter and brown matter and other things in your bucket and it will break it all down, but if you put a plant in there to grow, it will not compost the "real" plant! God really planned out this composting stuff pretty good!!!!😊❤

@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Crawled all the way up the table? I mean, maybe one worm crawled up the table and found it’s way in, and out, but I’m doubting more than one. You did put some dirt in. Maybe there were worms in those scoops.

Very very informative video Robbie ❣️ In the beginning I saw videos about compost bins and I made two large pots and compost in there. But I needed that soil immediately for my plants. I was turning and turning the compost bins but they were ready in six months! By that time I spend so much money on compost that I bought and soil too. When I collected the compost that I made in the bins I realized that it was so little. So it wasn't worth it for me to do it this way.... I didn't have the space to have the place to have big compost bins in my balconies or earthworms . So I gave up with the compost project and I had to buy it... But then I've found your awesome channel ✨ and I've seen how you make it happen!!! So I did the same thing like you're teaching us. I didn't have earthworms but it worked perfectly fine ❤️ It's been from last summer and all my totes and pots has been setting up this way and my plants love it!!! I didn't have any earthworms but everything is turning into beautiful soil and I'm saving so much money! Now that I have plants I can save their leaves....and that circle of life is so natural and productive 🙏 All thanks to you Robbie ❣️ And it's fun too! Putting your scraps, a bit of soil and plant! Soooo easy and fun 👏 cause mother nature is so simple but sooo beautiful 💗 Thank you Robbie for showing us what's going on in our totes! This is a great experiment to understand that compost in place 👏👏👏

Oh wow, this is so beautiful to read! I know you’ve told me how you don’t have earth worms, and it works. Perfect, it’s just so nice to read it again and again.❤and I knew the microbes are good enough, again thank you

I don't know where you live but in Florida you could purchase a small tub of red wigglers or fishing worms from Walmart and distribute them in your totes. If they like the living arrangements they will reproduce and make even more worms.😊😊😊😊😊

@@shirleyk623 I live in Athens. You can purchase here too earthworms but last year that I've started gardening I didn't have enough money to do it that way... @@oldladyfromnm7590 doing it this way you won’t need any soil or get the small bag and just put in some soil where you’re planting the plant in the container like a cup or two in the spot you are planting

I dumped some small pots from last year into a tote that sat out all winter in some very cold weather and there were fat big worms in the pots! There were worms in the leaves I left in a pile on the ground from last fall. I dump every pot, even those that look dry as can be, and I find worms under the wet leaves from last year. I can’t believe how many worms I already have. I was going to put the old leaves in the trash but I can’t. They are full of microbes and worms. I think my tote garden will be a whole lot better this year?

I added in a handful of soil from around the yard, and there’s probably earthworm eggs in there. If you can find some earth worms under a flower pot or rock, go ahead and add them in. 😊
