How To Contour a Round Face To Look Thinner | Sona Gasparian

Hi my loves, today’s video is how to contour a round face to look slimmer! I’m showing you how easy it is to chisel your features and make your face appear skinnier in four steps. First, I used the Cameo Contour Stick from Pür Cosmetics on the hollows of my cheeks, jawline, temples, and nose. Then I used the Smashbox Cream Cheek Brush and a Beauty Blender to blend out the cream bronzer for a seamless look. The next step in making your face look slimmer is to set your cream contour with a powder. This is optional, you can skip it if you’re going for a more natural look. I personally don’t use cream products everyday to contour. I typically save cream contouring for special occasions and will use a powder like the Benefit Hoola Bronzer for an everyday look. But when I use cream contour, I like to set it with the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow bronzer. It really warms up my complexion and deepens the contour. A great drugstore dupe that has a similar texture is the Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer. The color isn’t exactly the same, but the formula and blendability is very comparable. Lastly, to add dimension back into my face, I like to apply a highlight. I used the middle shade in the Hourglass Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette on the high points of my face to bring back a healthy looking glow. This looks beautiful on you but coming from someone who has a really round face and chubby cheeks 👎 I find that putting blush on the apples of my cheeks makes them look sooo much rounder. I have to place it at the top of my cheekbones, directly under the highlight. I love the tips for the jawline, definitely going to have to try that.

I'm no makeup pro but I been doing this technique way before watching this video except for the baking and I'm surprised to see I'm not the only one doing contour above the jawline since everyone does it under the jawline. I do have a round face and been experimenting different ways on contouring and I can definitely say this technique does make a difference for round faces. I also contour below the temples by the eye level and that also has helped.. 🤗

Yes! Under the jawline is terrible when it’s basically your jawline you’re trying to hide. I have like “jowls” and super chubby cheeks and I want to hide the entire border of my face. I always felt like I was doing something “wrong” by going on my jawline with contour. Thank you!

yup! i get my round face from my moms side of the family. all of them noticeably looked way better in their 30s than they did in their 20s because their face became perfectly defined at that age. i’m 19 and personally can’t wait until i get to my 30s 😂

I have a round face as well, it find that it's better to place the blush or bronzer not directly on the cheeks bit beside in a diagonal line, blended of course ^^. And narrow the sides of the forehead more the the middle top.

Selina Li Yep! I never do the top of my forehead...just the sides. Contouring the top of your forehead shortens the face, which is the exact opposite of what you want to do to slim it.

Hi Sona, I am just beginning on face contouring. I have a round shape face & when I do gain weight it tends to show in my round face. I have a fair complexion so in order for it to blend in with my neck & chest so I do not look orange around the edges of my face, what color contour should I get? I want it to look natural. I don’t want the lines to be so harsh & noticeable. I have purchased the Physicans Formula Butter Bronzer that you have recommended here on your channel. It says on the compact that it is a lighter color bronzer. I have seen you use it for contouring. Do you recommend this for a pale complexion.? I have no tan so I just want my contour to blend in & look natural. I would really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks Sona for your make up tutorials. I love the bangs on you but something about them laying thin on your dark eyebrows is throwing me off. I feel like it is giving an angry look to that part of the face. I thought the exact same! I think the brows are too strong with the bangs, but I also think she should go a tad shorter. I have fringe bangs mysel and up I always have them RIGHT above my brows in order to make it look softer. But yeah. My brows are super soft bc the bangs themselvesare a big statement already.

Hi, new subscriber here. I enjoyed your tutorial a lot. You discuss the products and techniques in an entertaining and instructive manner without all the inane chatter that others on KZbin seem to think is so cute but personally drives me slightly crazy. The one thing I question, and I'm no expert, but it seems as though using the same color bronzer for your blush might be defeating the purpose a bit for contouring the cheeks. It ends up making the face look a little rounder after going through all that effort to keep the face from looking round. It still looks good, but I wonder if a different color blush would make the contouring look more effective. Incidentally, I think your bangs are cute - a very youthful look! Thanks for all of your expertise!
