We take a look at 3 ranges of fighting and the best stance for each. This is a complex scenario and I give a quick summary of the advantages and disadvantages of some of the more common fighting stances. Sport karate, full contact karate, Muay Thai and clinch. A well rounded athlete can adapt to both the ruleset and their opponent.

I don't like Muay thai stance if i'm surround by 3 or 2 attacker it could be very stationary. I use to think side stance was ridicules till machida change my life ever since watching his first fight.

It is possible to be quick and mobile from a Thai stance but it seems to be rare. I saw saenchai sparring 2-3 people at a time when I was training in Thailand. Granted it was sparring and not real fight but his dynamic speed changes and foot sweeps kept everyone from touching him until he let them. It was quite impressive and opened my mind to being able to use multiple styles of movement and footwork in any given situation. Thanks for the support

@@JasonNishime I guess i'm kyokushin at heart. But i did study various of kickboxing styles since i'm wanna be kickboxing nerd, i think i'm mid with my Muay Thai. Not as Dynamic/good as Seanchai he got this lean back on point/one-handstand kick/tricks. I don't know I wish I could test it out. like I done TKD/Western kickboxing/ Muay Thai with Muay Boran it's was strange they didn't bother to tell me. if was Muy Mat. i did leth wei and Khmer kun/Viet kickboxing/Yaw yaw/Sanda. Last year I updated my MMA skill I learned Machida footwork. I guess if kept switching all the style stances I learnt. i could use in a 3 vs 1 situation would work idk. But thanks I'm search video you mention tho.

@@hotpopcorncake keep in mind if we’re talking strictly self defense I’m not picking a particular stance. Whatever gets you home alive is the one you need.

I was an amateur boxer, and I was an athlete in school and have been athletic my whole life. But I don't care how much knowledge or physical advances I might receive. In no way would I ever workout train or be coached by or sit under any man that would wear his hair in a manbun. He could be the highest level teacher in his form of training, but the respect that he should have for himself is totally lost with his hairstyle, so instantly I would leave his presence. 1 Corinthians 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him

You sound pretty foolish and incredibly judgmental - maybe you should read more of your bible and try to be more accepting. But being an amateur boxer and school athlete you’re obviously a tough guy already, I’m sure there’s nothing left for you to learn.

This amateur boxer must know a lot!! This instructor Jason is actually benefiting from not having you as a student to be that disgraceful and judgmental that you cant accept learning something from a very decorated martial artist. Sounds like you have a lot of growing up and understanding of what actual self defense could do for you. There’s a chance maybe one day you’ll be in a situation where a man is sitting on top of you trying to harm you and maybe this comment that you left will be ringing through your head. Carry on with your senseless trolling.
