I use ethofumesate with TTTF seed, this combo is working quite well, I would say I have seen a 75% reduction in POA.

Thats great to know. I may consider trying that. I just haven’t heard good things.

Good information Devin and perfect timing. I hand pulled a bunch of Poa last spring but I'm sure that I missed a few that went to seed. I plan on overseeding in September trying to thicken up my lawn so no preemergent will be going down any time soon. My thoughts were to apply Tenacity at seeding and an application of Barricade in the Feb/Mar time frame in hopes of controlling the Poa. Any suggestions if this is a viable strategy?

Unfortunately, putting down pre emergent in feb/mar isn’t going to control poa. It has already germinated by then. You can used Aneuw in the spring to reduce the presence of poa and reduce its seed head production, it’s great for that. Sounds like you have a good plan though.

Thx for the video. My back yard is filled with Poa Annua. I just discovered what it was this year. I did a dethatch and overseed 3 weeks ago and the new grass is coming in good. I’m going to start your program next spring with the T-X product and prodiamine in the fall, 2 applications. Is granular OK to use? In my front lawn I have been dealing with Creeping bent grass. I used tenacity in 2022 and got rid of most of it and reseeded with RTTTF. Some of it is coming back. Thx again 🙂

Granular or liquid pre emergent doesn’t really matter, mostly important thing is that it is watered in prior to soil temps reaching 70. Glad to know you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching

What would impress me is a solution for people living in Canada. Who in the US retails prodiamine ? Home Depot

What do you do if you have poa that’s taken over about 50% of 12,000 sq ft area do you just kill it off and start over? Or will the Poa seeds germinate along with the new grass?

Yes if you kill active poa(with seed heads)the dormant Poa seeds will germinate right along beside your new grass. Its a tough situation I know. I don’t know your whole situation but I would try to reduce the poa as much as possible one season and bite the bullet. It’s not an easy decision but like I say in the video, you have to pick, offense or defense. And it’s going to be something your going to have to work on for years but it can be done. Anuew is awesome in the spring time to reduce seed heads of poa, thats a great strategy as well. Best of luck and thank you for watching.

Great video! Curious, what happens if you go above the yearly max of pre-emergent (or in similar vein, a post-emergent)? Does it just stop working or will it actually cause damage to the existing grass?

I am not really sure. I would think the reason there is a yearly maximum has something to do with leaching into the ground. Probably not good for ponds, streams and lakes if everyone was throwing down too much. Thanks again for watching!!

I have a Bermuda lawn and was planning on putting down Simazine 4L in early October, (I live in North Alabama) can I do a 1/2 round of Prodiamine in late August and 1/2 round of Simazine in Early October and still control the Poa? If not I will do all Prodiamine in fall and then Simazine in February next year. Thoughts???

I believe I would go with Simazine in early October(weather dependent) earlier is better. Then prodiamine in February( earlier if mild winter). Honestly either way would be a good plan

I have a 27,000 sf lawn. Applying liquid products can be a bear. How do you apply your liquid? I have been using Lesco 007 granular prodiamine 68.7 percent in the fall here in N.E. PA. I think I did a single app in October, then a split app in the spring, typically close to April 1 and June 1. Two years ago I had a terrible Poa outbreak so I

I use a 4 gal battery powered backpack sprayer. There is a link on my website to the one I recommend, plus I use a sprayer nozzle that gives me an 8ft wide swath, that way i get good coverage without as many passes. I feel your pain. Having a large lawn makes everything more challenging. Depending on the application, I can get 4 gal to cover 10k sq ft. Except Fungicides & Liquid Ferts…4 gal covers 5000sq ft, because I like the extra carrier volume. You may have to look at a tow behind sprayer because your lawn is so large. Best of luck and thanks for watching!! Be blessed

I should have added that I haveva four gallon battery back pack as well. Still takes a lot of time with all the mixing. I use it more spraying crabgrass and weeds with Tenacity. 8 foot width is awesome. Way more than mine. I use the My 4 Sons backpack.

27,000 sq ft is a lot of ground to cover, there is now way around it. Big advantage with spraying is that you can combine multiple applications in one take, which is convenient and should help you save time too.
