How to Control the Intensity of LUTs on Shotcut When Applying a Cinematic Look to Your Videos

Here's been a problem that's plagued me since I learned Shotcut. I finally found a solution! Let me know if it works for you!

While playing around with the simple mask shape and height I was also able to focus on one area like the sky to make it bluer or whatever but only in a straight line. I'm sure I'm just touching the surface of what it can do. When you talked with the maker of Shotcut did the subject of changing the sky every come up? It is one feature many of the other editors have that I like but don't have (that I know of) in Shotcut. Being a Linux Mint OS user I am limited in programs that work on my system. Shotcut is one of the few. Thanks for all you're doing to help us all improve our skills in Shotcut.

@@BenEspanto I remember that one but I think the method used in this video works even better with a 'blue sky' lut I have. I was really hoping Shotcut creators were working on the same kind of sky replacement as some of the other editors. Have you seen them yet? A choice of sky and cloud formations with a simple click or two. Just wondering if the creators were thinking about doing something like this.

This is fantastic Ben! Thank you! Where do the mask filters come into play or do they need to be there for the opacity filter to work with the lut? Edit: Okay, I get it now, the masks allow the opacity to work on the lut. Duh.

I just discovered you have so many tutorials covering shotcut so I have to run all of them! Btw do you know if they are going to do something with that speed adjusting method? It's so annoying and frustrating when you try to do a decent slow motion 🤯

I've never used a LUT but out of curiosity, why not just add the same footage on a second track above and adjust the opacity there? would that not work.

Theoretically it can work, but can double the size of your file by running two videos at the same time.

Dear ,thank you for ur info. Kindly give solution to my query. Bt I have some issue still. I was inserted a video quality with 1080 p 60 FPS after my editing, 1.first time : export in “advanced setting” I didn’t change any of the preset automatic values which is 1920 * 1080 59.9 FPS .. Quality was good. 2.second time: I have inserted some clips additional to the previous project and I was export the project in same settings as I done first time. But this time my entire project quality was poor. I not even understand wat happen.. After that I tried many of the presets also like H264 high/KZbin. However I didn’t got my exact quality of video. Also I tried lossless settings moreover which was giving me very huge output file so I won’t prefer that to upload in KZbin. Kindly sort out my issue. Also give me a suggestion. I put lot of effort to edit that particular project.😕 I’m expecting your response.

Best practice is to make sure your Video Mode (Settings > Video Mode) matches your export settings. By setting the Video Mode the Export settings should match when you're ready. Lossless settings will naturally output very large files. There is no way around it, but I can give you my KZbin settings. First, pick the KZbin output default, then in advanced, go to Codec and set quality to 75%. That should be more than good enough for KZbin.
