Well, then. Question:Did you see my vid before making this when talking about recording times? I got to admit, I haven't gotten around to using a thumbdrive yet, so I've been plagued by the short recording times with both DVD and SDHC cards. Kudos. That may help me with a couple things for which I actually do use the device.

It is disappointing that is does not have an S-video input. Does not the lack of that mean that hi-8 can not be transferred optimumly ?

Like I said in the video, it as different record settings like SP, LP and a few that are higher. I am not sure what the higher ones will record at. I imagine that anything above SP will be higher definiation like 1920 x 1080.

Does the Wolverine only work from 8mm digital or Hi8 tapes? I have other converters, but they won't recognise older 8mm analogue tapes. Does this device recognise the original format 8mm analogue tapes

It will work with either digital or hi8 tapes. The RCA output from the camera to the Wolverine is an analog cable so it is sending an analog signal.

I was more thinking of NON digital or Hi8 tapes. I'm sure the other converters Iusevia my computer use similar analogue cables too but the converter doesn't see the tape OR maybe the Sony Digital camera doesn't SEE the tape?

Some cameras only play hi8 and regular 8 tapes, other cameras only play digital 8 tapes. Then there are cameras that can read both regular and digital. You may have a camera that only plays one or the other.

It could be an over scan of the picture. Try cleaning your player as well.

PLUGGING IN THE CAMERA IS THE TRICKY PART. If the majority of PLAYERS are broke , because these Cameras had A lot moving parts. YOU CAN'T TRANSFER ANYTHING , IF 95% OF CAMERAS ARE NO MORE.
