I've been coming back to this video for years every time I need to convert melodies and forget from last time. I've also found that if you want to convert chords to midi, you can do that in FL Studio too. If you hit the Spectrum tab for WaveCandy, increase the max resolution to 2048 or 4096 and expand the WaveCandy window, by a "heat map" sort of display, it highlights the frequencies played aligned with a piano roll. Hope that helps anyone who came to this video looking for converting chords! A bit more effort but still relatively easy and doesn't need a super trained ear or anything like that

This technique works best with dry audio signals (although sometimes Edison still fills in weird Midi notes where are none). Sometimes it also works with wet signals, but you will definetely have to do more work with correcting the Midi afterwards. BTW: Great videos, keep up the good work!

Okay I'm gonna listen to the steps and then right down each step for those who prefer written instructions 1. have your audio loop, a separate pattern in which the midi notes will be sent to, and a synthesizer or keys plug-in in the channel rack to send those notes to 2. Select the top left side of your audio sample (with a wave form icon) 3. There should be an option labeled Edit Sample, click that (it'll open another window, it's the audio editor) 4. Go to your pattern selector and create a pattern or select the pattern you want to send the midi to 5. Also select the synth in the channel rack 6. In the audio editor window, select the fourth icon on the top (left to right). Under Analysis, click "convert to score and dump to piano roll" 7. If you want you can paste the audio over the midi, zoom in, and see in fine detail where to correct the midi Okay half way through watching I realized the tutorial is not what I'm looking for but I'll still finish the written steps

First of all, thanks for this tutorial; I also really appreciate the keyboard shortcuts. This method didn't work for me though as it kept crashing my FlStudio. So I have found a workaround and it might even be more straightforward. ( First make sure you have selected the pattern (keys, synth) on the sequencer you want this to be copied to) 1: Go to your audio clip on the playlist and select the preferences as shown in this video. 2: Under sample, select 'pitch-correct sample' 3: It will pop up a box with your audio sliced up into notes. 4: Go to the menu section (top right) and click the 'Send to play roll/Copy to MIDI clipboard' button (it sits just before the 'save as' button) 5: Voila!!
