I just found this video after searching tutorials on doing this upgrade. Just bought my own place, and promptly had the kitchen fixture start flickering and hesitating to light off one pair of the bulbs. Talking with the local electrical supply house because I knew of full 2x4 foot suspended ceiling panel LED fixtures from my last job, but hadn't considered the tube replacement bulbs until today, I found out that the T-12 ballasts in my house draw somewhere between 30-50 watts before you even consider the wattage of each fluorescent tube! Doing a ballast bypass install saves that extra wattage, multiplied by however many fixtures you're upgrading. In my house and garage, that's 6 ballasts eliminated, so looking at the whole set it's saving 240w just by removing the ballasts from the equation. All that said, thanks for the straight forward demonstration of how to rewire the fixtures for LED replacement bulbs.

Thank you for telling people about plug and play leds. I had no clue they existed for flourescents till about 6 months ago. I love the leds. I switched in my kitchen and it's amazing. Slowly switching the entire house. I'm saving $20 a month so far on my electric bill too which is win win for me. We switched out florescent with plug and play in the walk in closets and those are amazing! Work well and no problems or dimming. Your shop looks great with those leds!

As an electrician, I promised myself I wouldn't watch anymore DIY wiring. I broke my promise and saw exactly what I expected... Y'all know electricity can kill, right? If you keep the ballast in use and go to LED you get to keep all the lag and flickering. It’s wonderful.

LED's in these kinds of lights are actually on a 'duty cycle' and not operating 100% on continuously which is why they have such great power consumption ratings. Most LED lights use phosphor... as do Fluorescent lights to smooth out the strobe feeling.

Wonder how many people caught on to the before and after (going from 1 fluorescent light to 10 led tubes 😂) Yes it made your shop much brighter but it would have been a much better comparison if you did same number of lights in the before and after lol

@@SheWhoWoodworks I don’t care about dirty or sticky fingers (or your mom and I never would have gotten along so well) it’s the fact I’m dealing with greasy black slime and their paint, switches, outlets, light fixtures and high hat trims. SHLM UHaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah asher Hayah, as what He told Mose (Exodus 3:14), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a curse to the G-o-d name (Isaiah 65:11-12), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. All followers of the Messiah are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23), but no more animal sacrifices, following the Crucifixion of the Messiah. We are now of the order of MLK TSDQ (King, Righteous), to Whom ABRaHM tithed. Ask the Messiah to be your personal Savior. He said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6). He is the Atoning Offering for mankind for the remission of sin (1 John 2:1-2).

Wait!! Before you do that... Here is the only warning your most likely ever be told... These lights are great on efficiency but... are very bad for human eye sights... Nobody is going to tell you this information... It’s being suppressed for the moment... Until they are made in the USA with the correct technology, these lights can harm your eyes over long periods of time... I should know, I’m a industrial designer with a background L.E.D technology... Light heals your body if it is on a certain spectrum.. just like the Sun... Some light is bad for you...
