I've just done this tonight for mum and I, without the beer (just added more stock and a tablespoon of tomato paste). About 5 minutes before the end, added a cup of frozen peas, a good handful of chopped parsley and a grind of black pepper. Absolutely gorgeous recipe! Thanks for sharing. :)

Browning the veg as well as the meat must really help the flavour. Sooo much better than (like some vids on here) just chucking in the potatoes, carrots etc from raw, for the last 15 mins of cooking. Great video my good man!

You may use water but the flavor is not going to be as good, that’s why is recommended to use a nice beef stock.

I think he did. Judging from the color of it is a dark malt ( don't worry the alcohol will evaporate while cooking) and it does help so use it since it helps with the flavor.

This is a great starter recipe, looks tasty. My Mothers version is different, as well as mine and everybody's, at this point I don't understand all the thumbs down. It is a basic and on point, has to be a lot of haters out there that can't cook at all. Everybody needs more basic skills.

Hi Jennifer, beef stock is made by roasting beef bones. You can use beef Bouillon to make the stew.

You want to season the meat at the beginning and you want to use a beef stock of broth as well. Then you need to adjust the seasoning at the end.
