Awesome thanks! It’s so hard to find people using an actual pressure cooker on YT.

Wow, super easy and fast! I hate cooking beans because it's usually an all-day affair. Pressure cooker to the rescue!

Wow!! I've been wanting to learn how to do this a while. I have a pressure cooker and have never used it because of ... well.. the obvious.. LOL!!! But I do want to make my beans this way instead of buying store canned beans. Thanks for the tutorial!

I have been cooking beans once a week for over 40 years, plus another 18 years watching my mother. Soaking the beans cuts the cooking time I agree and also let the pressure release itself. Depend how you are going to eat your beans, by itself like soup 4 inches of water is ok. I eat with rice, so 2 inches is enough.I never put my beans in the fridge, it wont go bad, we sprout beans for a week and it wont go bad.I am curious and I read some of the comments and people say that beans cause gas. I believe it does but if you keeping eating it will stop some day.

Thanks for the information about sprouting the beans.

I’ve been eating them for 25 years my entire life and it does indeed go away

Love my pressure cooker. Love to add onion celery peppercorns bay garlic, carrot, etc... just leave the salt until after so peas, beans, etc get soft in cooker. Adding salt tends to make Fava, chickpeas, etc take much longer to soften up
@alexgordonepic2 ай бұрын
Also you can use way less water with good pressure cooker. May not even have to cover fully depending on been pea etc

I'm planning to share a video early next week showing how I make ham and bean soup (left-overs from today's ham) and can it in the pressure cooker!

What if my cooker has no pressure guage? How many minutes does it have to cook for approximately before I turned the burner off ? Thanks.

Do I have to soak them and what’s the cook time if I don’t?
@DaysWellSpent3 жыл бұрын
You don't have to but it is a good idea. I'm not sure about the cooking time for non-soaked beans because I always soak ours.
@concrete4907 жыл бұрын
hmmm. I thought soaking wasn't necessary when using pressure cookers. 🤔
@DaysWellSpent7 жыл бұрын
You don't have to soak them but it helps prevent digestion issues.

Soaking bean: Oligosaccharides (Causes the gas) aren’t the only nutrient which leaches out of beans when you soak them. Water-soluble vitamins, such as riboflavin, thiamin, and folic acid (which are all very high in beans) all are lost. Without soaking the beans you will have to add a little more cooking time..
@lokidurden64736 жыл бұрын
I like a smokey flavor so I'm soaking mine overnight in liquid smoke. I hope it works!
@zippy26419 ай бұрын
Why are you pressure cooking your beans before canning them? Pressure canning IS pressure cooking, so your cooking them twice. I believe they recommend the quick soak method before pressure canning.
@DaysWellSpent9 ай бұрын
You can quickly cook them in a pressure cooker to use instead of cooking them on the stovetop.
@isaz5978 жыл бұрын
is 4 to 5 inches water in the pressure cooker above the beans or from the base of the pressure cooker?

+Days Well Spent I'm really sorry I'm confused by your response. I asked about cooking beans in a pressure cooker but your reply is seems to be about canning as you've mentioned "canner" & "jars"

Please, Do your beans taste better or worse? And do you know anything at all about seasoning beans before they are either soaked or pressure cooked? I just bought a pressure cooker it hasn't arrived yet, but I'm mostly reading the comments because they are written by people with experience of pressure cookers, they know what a waste of time, and what is legitimately helpful. Thank you
