Thank you for this easy recipe!! It was my first time cooking brown rice and I always thought it would be such a challenge. I boiled it for about half an hour and when the water started to disappear, I put the lid on and cooked it on slow heat for like 20 minutes (stirring a couple times so that it doesn’t burn). The rice turned out delicious and fluffy!!!! Thank you!

I am insulin resistant and normally dread eating brown rice. This way of cooking it may have saved me, it is way better than following instructions on the bag or even cooking it in my rice cooker. Now I can finally eat brown rice without being miserable! Thank you! 😊

Thank you. 👍 This brown rice did not need to be soaked? We ( 🇵🇰 Pakistan) usually, soak brown rice in warm water for an hour or so. It helps increase the size of the grain. However, it come out cooked in a pearly form. Seasoning can be added along with the salt. I'll try your recipe and get that "perfectly cooked" brown rice! 😋

Looks good, but I think lot of people a bit confused (having read their comments) how you reached to the end from the point you told us cook for half an hour (& you’re good to go….!!) but do you after boiling the rice at, say high temp for the first 15mins and then turn it down to low heat for another 15mins??? (And…. not to drain any water out & keep the lid on until the end?) I think you’ve cut out the bit that is important of cooking a fluffy rice hence lot of people asking similar questions.,..
@RosePigCooking
@RosePigCooking Жыл бұрын
The method is cooking the rice exactly like you would pasta…. No simmering no measuring water to rice ratios and covering and simmering…. Just filling a large pot with water bringing it to a boil and adding your brown rice… check after a half hour if it’s cooked drain your rice… if it’s still a bit tough cook longer until tender.

Try the "fry it before you boil it" method?! AFTER rinsing rice off, fry in a tbsp of oil for 4-5 mins, stirring frequently. [This shifts the outer shell FOR Fried rice, brown / white / jasmine / basmatti rice. 1:1 ratio with ¼ of extra for condensation no matter the # of cups of rice, that ¼ IS *"the extra compensated / condensation water"*] After 5 mins dump your measured water in and boil 10 mins. Keep covered & remove from burner / heat. Rest 5-10 mins BEFORE removing the lid to fluff. When pulling lid away- lift swiftly & tilt the lid so the water will run out of the pan/skillet. (Not back into your pot / skillet to create extra moisture.) Rest to hit room temp before storing in fridge / freezing.
