How long do you warm up the Thermos with hot water? I tried this with my Stanley 24 oz (which I know stays super hot with just like liquid / tea), but I tried it with oat meal and I was disappointed with the temperature. Not only is lukewarm not that great, but food needs to stay out of the danger zone (less than 40 F or higher than 140) to avoid growing bacteria. I'm not sure what I did wrong :( I love hot food

I warm it up for about a minute. Then I eat the oatmeal after about an hour and a half. I wonder if the problem was that you used a big jar with a lot of air in it. Are use the smaller jars for single servings of oatmeal or rice, and they work well. I really like the thermos. Stanley makes a smaller one that’s very good as well.

I fill mine with water and let it sit 5 minutes and it works well

I don't think bacteria would be a problem as long as the water is boiling when ir goes in. That would sterilise the food in the flask, and as long as it's properly sealed, no bacteria can enter from the air. It's like canned meat or fish - as long as the food is heat sterilised before sealing, it can last for years at room temperature.

I want to buy it for the same use cases you demonstrate. I however like my oatmeal thick, I wonder do you have any experience on how hard it might be to clean?

It’s easy to clean. It’s big enough to get a dishwashing brush into. And you can put boiling water in it with soap and presoak it for a while before you brush it out.

@@hoohoohoblin Thank you for the reply. I actually did the exact procedure your described (before your reply). It was easier to clean than usually, probably due to the fact of not supplying additional heat (probably burning some milk).

It’s impressive how well the Thermos retains heat.
