yeah pretty much. You won't be finding ready dishes from barrels anymore either, it's mostly just ingredients that offer only small hunger relief. but with the addition of fishing your meals, it probably won't be too strict system unless you're playing on harder difficulties.

I love how the new update is looking so far and Ia noticed something that may or may not be foreshadowing. I think the hexen setup was a nod that Henryk might be the next playable contestant. Levi has both Daan's skill trees and Henryk's skill trees unlocked, and he also has two gro-goroth affinity. He could've sacrificed both Henryk and Daan at the orphanage and gained only two points as opposed to three of he wrote down the gro-goroth sigil. You can only sacrifice party members and the new skill for Henryk making him even more useful as a potential party member all seem to be hinting to him possibly being the next recruitable/playable contestant. Samarie also seems to be higher on the list than before but I think they both have a decent chance since currently there is almost no reason to save Henryk over Abella because Abella can actually help in battle while Henryk can provide food and other than that not really do anything. The update looks amazing and I eagerly await getting to play it.

What an amazing tweak, Miro. By doing this + removing ready-made meals from loot barrels you'll certainly bring back the hunger aspect full force. Another tweak I'd like to suggest, pertaining to food: they should all have a timer. Basically, if you make a goulash/pie/etc and you fail to consume it within a certain time frame, the item will get spoiled/rotten. Consuming them would still be possible, but they'd give the characters poison/toxic status and only recover half the amount of hunger it would normally recover. If you accept some other suggestions, me and a friend were discussing this very same topic yesterday: 1 - Booby traps and bear traps should spawn in randomized areas in each playthrough, and should be hidden by environmental elements (perhaps wood/paper/junk in the city and leaves in the forest area). Of course, not invisible, but hidden enough that the player has to pay attention to their steps and the tile pattern, much like those spike pits in the Prehevil forest. 2 - When using Daan's Magna-Medicinal skill, if you have a Salmonsnake rune or other accessories such as arm-guards, you end up bypassing the sacrifice required to revive a party member. I suggest removing this perk, making things considerably harder, so perhaps to balance things out a bit, the revived party member could return with more Body Points. 3 - Much like Sylvian's circle restores Body Points and heals ailments/recovers amputated limbs, perhaps by drawing a GoF&H circle the player could restore Mind and Hunger points for the party. This would make things easier, yes, but it would be a way to balance out the scarcity of food. 4 - Depending on how lucky/unlucky you are, there are lots and lots of small keys spread throughout the map. By removing (at least most of) them, the player would be forced to either kill or recruit Karin in order to gain access to her lockpicking skill, thus heightening the tension. 5 - There could be a book called "Botanica", describing the effects of herbs, mushrooms and their effects. Like an "alchemilia vol. 0", so to speak. Other than Olivia (and perhaps Daan or Henryk), it wouldn't make much sense for the other characters to start the game aware of the culinary and medicinal uses of the plants and fungi found around Prehevil. Unless you have this book (which Olivia could start with) you won't be able to pick up herbs/mushrooms. 6 - This is not exactly a suggestion, more like a question: are there plans to expand the map around the northwestern sector (Business district street area)? Also, I've heard rumors of the train station becoming a new area + a new area consisting of a prison bunker accessible through the island. Are those plans real or just fandom buzz? 7 - The nail boards from Maso mode/the first game should be permanent on all modes, present specially in the Rher dimension that is basically all made of wood. 8 - Exploring Prehevil at night should be harder, with enemies being stronger/more resilient thanks to Rher's more direct influence, and even having them randomly respawn (if they have already been killed during daytime). 9 - Alll-mer's skill tree is pretty poor compared to the other gods'. Perhaps he could have additional skills pertaining to blood magic and/or character revival (to be in line with his lore about resurrection and such)? I thought of this mechanic regarding the Inverse Crown of Thorns: you could have new enemies that cannot be harmed directly. The only way for you to kill them would be to hurt yourself through this skill. 10 - Fecal hounds, Ratkin and Neighbours should/could also trigger Nosophobia. The latter two should trigger Nausea, as well. 11 - White vials are too common, you can basically find them in every fridge around Prehevil. Their numbers should dwindle drastically, or perhaps become accessible via Alchemilia recipe exclusively. I have some other suggestions me and my Termina-loving friend have come up with but for now this is what I think would make the game more challenging! Thanks for this amazing game, Miro.

Making some meals potentially toxic would also serve the additional purpose of making the (too) plentiful white vials and green herbs more purposeful so it sounds like a good idea. Traps mostly feel like a hinderance, having to squint at my screen like in the forest everywhere doesn't sound fun or difficult, mostly tedious. Giving more purpose to player madr booby traps sounds good tho, or just more use for explosives in general, maybe oppening shortcuts, clearing rouble, etc. Imo circles are balanced well, and fear and hunger statues already have the best utility. The most direct way to buff them is to make other commodities more scarce, making mixed herbs less prevalant for example would buff sylvian circles or making All mer stronger would give less viability to F&H circles. I personnally think that most characters having basic knowledge of botanics is fair and accurate in the lore. Levi, osaa and karin would likely hzve some knowledge of basic remedies and food foraging from years of traversing war ridden territories. I was really disappointed with nail boards not doing anything lol, it should be an easy mode feature only I think not making night time any harder is a conscious decision, there are enough save points and time all arround to get any ending you want with time to spare. I'd just sleep through the night to avoid the combat and I feel like most players would do the same.

Some other things I've been ruminating on: 1 - Healing Mind with alcoholic beverages should come with some sort of penalty, like not being able to run for a few minutes + the screen getting all distorted/darkened + reduced stats in the next few battles. 2 - Daan's Analyze skill is currently a bit OP for regular encounters. Instead, it could work like some sort of in-battle Diagnosis skill, in a way similar to what the navigators of the Persona series do. 3 - There should be a cap on the availability of certain items and weapons, limiting them to only 1 per playthrough. On my last playthrough I came across three Salmonsnake runes, plus, I found three different trenchguns! They don't need to always spawn in the same place (for instance, if you can't find a trenchgun in the speakeasy of Prehevil Bop, then it should be in the house near the Mayor's Manor or vice-versa) but it would be a nice way to amp up the tension. 4 - Still on the topic of guns, I think they're a bit too weak compared even to melee attacks. This can be kinda limiting, and ends up favoring only one build (being a meele-attacking dark mage) over others.

The in-game events last 3 days tops, so dunno about food getting spoiled... No food goes bad that quick. I guess it could be just for gameplay reasons, but I rather didn't make that a feature. There's a fine balance where things get too tedious and I feel like food rot would be considered just an annoyance by many rather than something that enhances difficulty. 1. I kinda like how the traps are now. In plain sight, yet people still step on them. I think that's way more insulting than more hidden traps. People got only themselves to blame when they step on the traps as it is. 6. I got ideas for northwestern part of the town, but not sure if I proceed with the ideas or not. I probably won't be expanding the game too much area-wise after this next update. I feel like it's close to the sweetspot where it's not too tedious to run around. I've never mentioned any prison bunkers, so that's all gossip. I got no such plans.

Indeed they are very powerful to destroy enemies on the map before they even have a chance of laying a hit on your party. But it's just a minor nitpick! Regarding the traps, I absolutely understand your reasoning and indeed I agree. Regarding exploration and map expansion, if you feel like going forward with those ideas, rest assured that the fandom/community would absolutely love exploring new areas! IMO it's one of the strongest aspects of the game. But of course don't feel pressured to do so, after all you're basically a one-man army behind a huge project. Thanks again for this experience :)

ima be real, unless the hunger mechanic is getting buffed and requires the player to eat more often, i don't see this actually being a good addition. the game throws meat pies at you constantly and even a very slow run that takes longer than normal to finish due to player's skill/understanding of the game being subpar is very forgiving. unless Henryk (assuming they become a character) has some more complex eating habits in which case it would make sense for their gameplay specifically i hate to be a downer, because the idea on paper is actually really cool, just really pointless in practice as of current

This is not the only tweak to hunger and food. You won't find ready dishes from barrels any longer (like meat pies, vegetable pies etc.) only ingredients that feed you only a bit. Also the new difficulty mode that's coming with this update removes almost half the food barrels lying around so it'll definitely affect the overall presence of food. It's yet to be properly balanced, so dunno how it'll end up in the end, but there are definitely things being done to bring back the hunger. I just made this video to show that you need stoves, so people won't be too confused when the old way of just crafting more food doesn't work.
