Thank you. Very concise and direct video. And this was a new technique for me, even after 40 years of being an artist.

This whole show is so well scripted & edited. I never appreciated how well you explained it all when I was a kid in the 80s.

Repeat the process one more time and the mirror image reverts back to normal. It's a bit like a camera obsura but much simpler, it's great to see old technology like this demonstrated. Great video thanks for uploading these segments. I used to watch the show as a child and they are a nice little trip down memory lane remembering ABC afternoon children's TV programing from the 1980s.

Awesome! A long lost art given digital image sensors and photocopiers. Thanks for uploading all of these shorts, I wish they could be re-broadcast between kids TV shows.

Yeah, it's a mirror image. I remember seeing advertising for other drawing copiers in the 90's. It involved adjustable arms for enlarging/shrinking. I thought it was the neatest thing at the time.

Yes, that is a pantograph. You can still buy plastic versions in art shops and some toyshops but, as you say, this is different and works on a very different principle - Rob

A really good trick. But I would probably try it first with another technique. I would put the glass over a lamp and than put the picture on the glass. Now I would put the new paper on the picture. Maybe the contrast and the light are enough strong to copy the picture. Like on a light table.

Thank you so much. These etchr tracing mirrors are so expensive, it's so nice that I can just make it myself :)

Or you can suspend the glass horizontally on 2 books. Put the drawing on top of the glass and plain paper on the drawing, then put a light under the glass. Then you can draw by following the contour and all the details.

How much we have moved on. Carbon copy paper would be easier , then and now. I used to give the children this stuff in my class as a fun thing. They loved it, and raised their self esteem.

Does anybody know which tool or trick is being used by most KZbinrs to draw different things. I know they are using some sort of tracer for that without being noticed. I don't think they are using this kind of mirror. Might be glasses?
