To fix forward head posture you need to address up to a dozen ways the body adapts to poor posture. So, any forward head posture exercise that helps with multiple aspects of bad posture at once is really helpful. This exercise helps to correct a neck hump, or slouched posture, in four ways. Drawing your head back against a wall is like doing a chin tuck exercise for posture. But if you lengthen the back of the neck, you can stretch the deep neck extensors too. Then if you then tilt your body to the side as well, suddenly you are mobilising joints, and stretching the SCM muscle (which draws us forward into a forward, slumped position). You can even externally rotate the arms to help prevent rounded shoulders. And it’s a surprising simple exercise to do.
