The push fit hose connection actually fits on the end of the engine connector, you dont need the hose to connector bit you have

Thanks for your advise much appreciated. Whenever I got this motor the connector that I'm using was used by the previous owner and fitted to the green hose section, I've just continued to use it the same way he did. It's probably harder to loose than just the little connector by itself lol
