Kiki G. - I've been learning so much from this series and from your other content in general. You are a very effective teacher! I love that you explain "why" behind the "how". No doubt, I want to improve my own personal complexion makeup application, but after so many of your videos where I feel like I'm a student and taking in everything you're teaching - I'm longing to go back to school for makeup artistry. I'm not as young as I used to be. When I was in my late teens and early 20s, I wanted to go to school for special effects makeup. Alas, life had other plans with health problems out of my control. Art and creativity with makeup have always been a passion but I gave up on it long ago and have been kicking myself ever since. Sorry for the long comment, I guess I just wanted you to know what a fantastic teacher you are and what your content means to a lot of people out there that are just frustrated and confused while trying to figure out their own skin and makeup, as well as aspiring MUAs. The confusion and frustration is obviously made worse by the cosmetic industry's insane marketing and use of buzzwords. Just thank you so much.

What a beautiful comment. Thank you so much, that means the world to me! And I totally relate, I am just getting back into dancing and I'm definitely "too old" but I decided that we're never too old to do the things we love. By the way, if you're interested in getting into special FX, one of my good friends (and gifted and acclaimed special fx artist) has written a series of books on special fx makeup that I think are absolutely top notch. The Monstrous Makeup Manuals by Michael Spatola. They are absolutely FANTASTIC and he's one of my oldest friends in the industry. Good luck!

Ok dudes i got a question about the most important topic to me: sunscreen. Kiki, i watch you apply other skin products like mists and oils over sunscreen all the time, and then rub them in all over... Doesnt that remove a lot of the sunscreen? I'm really particular about this, so sunscreen is ALWAYS my last step before makeup (then primer, foundation etc). Is this not necessary? Also! I've read a lot of articles that say sunscreen is only as effective as it should be when applied in proper amounts, which is about 2x the amount people normally bother with. So in that same vein, if it's mixed into a moisturizer or foundation, it's extremely diluted, and i would assume as a result less effective? Are these articles misinformed?

I recently bought Bare Minerals products to help with my acne. It's the first time I've ever used a powder foundation and it just looks horrible. The concealer they matched me with covers my acne great, but whenever I put the powder foundation on I just look like I'm a 13 year old with bad skin, trying my mother's makeup. It looks absolutely horrible. Am I just doing it wrong? Or should I stick to liquid foundations while I'm battling a breakout? And is bare minerals not as great for acne as everyone says?

This is seriously so helpful! Kiki, what do you think about the silicone sponges? They don't waste as much products but they seem a bit hard to use (tho there's some more useful ones than the original silisponge) so do you have any recs which is the best? You seem to love the beautyblender a lot tho :P

How can I blush & lightly bronze over texture? I recently tried some acne products that made things worse.. I now have tiny bumps on high checks & wanted to know if you had any advice? I’ve always used matte powder blush or light dabs of liquid blush so that shine doesn’t draw attention to my texture but I need some halp. Any tips? Thank you for the videos!
@KikiG7 жыл бұрын
Kaleigh Munsterman that’s a tricky situation, but basically whatever you use needs to be a product that you can dab. I usually reach for creams/liquids that I can apply with my fingers or a sponge in a rabbit motion because it’s so much easier to apply and blend without messing up the coverage underneath. Swiping and blending powders on top seems to be really hard to do without removing the foundation/concealer when there’s texture. I like milk stick bronzer and glossier cream blushes I also like the Becca beach tint blushes!
@KikiG7 жыл бұрын
And by rabbit motion I mean dabbing motion but I’m also interested in the idea of rabbit motion which I imagine is very quick and could potentially be turned into a thing.

I had really bad acne, much worse than yours. I tried a lot of things but ultimately I had to treat my guy dysbiosis to stop breaking out. I found I had allergies to certain foods like sugar and dairy which broke me out. Maybe finding a quality probiotic and reestablishing your gut microbiome could help? Just a suggestion. You provide us with quality information so I'd like to help you as well. XO

I see so many people putting concealer on spots after applying foundation, then ya see exactly where the person concealed because a two tone thing is happening.

What do you do if your whole entire face is red (like i rubbed blush all over it). I’ve tried color correcting but no matter how little I use, it just looks like green on top of redness.
@haleyeah56827 жыл бұрын
Mary Hines a more yellow-olive toned foundation should neutralize the redness. good luck!
@saraperkins86027 жыл бұрын
Is it possible you're using an inappropriate shade of green? Often people go with really bright mint greens to correct redness, which can make them look washed out or sick or just greenish. Maybe try closely evaluating the tones in your skin and seeing what their true opposites would be. You might find you don't even need true green, but instead a yellowish green. A yellow foundation also might help, but i can see it being problematic if you're already red, because i presume your undertones are most likely pink too. Sorry if this isn't helpful and you've already tried it all. Best of luck!
@livelongandprospermary87967 жыл бұрын
Sara Perkins I’m very pink undertoned. I’ve used foundation that matches my undertone but it looks like I rubbed blush all over my face. So I tried the green color correcting cream with the pink undertones. Most greens that are available are too blue. I usually mix a yellow matte cream “highlight” (I’m pale af so the highlight is darker than my foundation 😂) with the blue-green and hope for the best. It’s super hard when my whole face is very red. It’s also difficult to cover the redness or weird green since I’m so pale. I’m limited on choices. Nyx isn’t even a drug store brand here. #firstworldproblems
@livelongandprospermary87967 жыл бұрын
Haley Cox pink looks 10x worse for me. I’m super pale so it doesn’t cover my extra redness very well and it looks like I’m using blush instead of setting powder.

Wish I could taper my foundation coverage more than I do... But my face is a fucking different color than the rest of me. Sigh. Great content, though. Love you!
@KikiG7 жыл бұрын
don't despair space witch! That is super common so you aren't alone. You can totally taper still but just apply a sheerer layer to clearer spots as opposed to putting no foundation in some places. But, you can see your face and I can't (at least as far as you know DUN DUN DUN) so follow your heart. Good luck with your makeup and space spells.
@noctegonzo7 жыл бұрын
Kiki G. Thank you! That's essentially what I do most of the time. But it's like super duper a different color, lol, so there's only so much I can sheer anything out without it getting weird. Oh well.
@livelongandprospermary87967 жыл бұрын
My face without a full coat of yellow toned foundation is super red so I feel you. I’ve tried color correcting but it truly does not work for me (the whole face doesn’t look right covered in green no matter what)
@noctegonzo7 жыл бұрын
Mary Hines same. Green is weird. I just go a bit on the yellow side with my foundation. But I'll tell you, my skin naked looks far less weird than if I put a correcting foundation on the face and sheer it out too much at the edges. It still has to be pretty opaque or it looks like I'm splotchy AND my foundation is the wrong shade. Sigh. The struggle is real, lol.
@livelongandprospermary87967 жыл бұрын
spacewitch to top it off, I’m fairly pale. My town is so small that nyx isn’t a drug store brand so I’m limited to cover girl and similar brands. If I’m lucky to find a shade match (and it will probably be pink based) the formula is wrong (matte when I need dewy since I also have dry skin ). TSIR (the struggle is real)
