fgfg fgfg My mother-in-law-in-law started using Nice & Easy at 40. She was a very busy woman and never had time nor desire to go to the hairdresser. At 96 she moved to an assisted living facility, there she started to get her hair done each week and had them color it. Then one week she had her long, long golden hair cut. We were all shocked and she loved it. We only got to see her soft golden locks before she went to bed. She always wore a bun and people knew it was her about a 1/2 mile away. She passed away at age 98 and was still a beautiful, smart and so respected person.

I really enjoy using L'Oreal's Touch up spray. What I don't like is the colored scalp. To avoid this, I use a very thin knitting needle (2mm / 0.078 inch) that I put directly over the parting and then spray over it. This will keep the light scalp visible and keep the medium brown color great on the hair. I can only recommend this, it looks absolutely natural and will last until the next wash.

I'm growing mine out, I'm 59 and have been colouring my hair for 40+ years and I'm sick of it, I am naturally dark and have had blonde highlights for the last few years to disguise the greys and the thinning hair! But recently my hair stylist has been putting in dark brown foils instead of blonde to blend in my natural colour, the blonde and the grey, it's a work in process and I am interested to find out what my natural colour is as I've forgotten! Also if I don't like the grey I can always colour it again but as I've got older I am leaning towards a more natural look, no more botox and less make-up, my bank balance is thanking me for it at the moment too!

Go for it! I'm a year into growing mine out. I'm 35 and even though it's been tough, the longer I go, the more I'm in love with the silver. The first few months were really hard, but the longer it gets the more obvious it's intentional. If anyone is considering it now would be a great time b/cyou might get to have that first few months at home! I even feel I've started to love myself more. The other thing I've noticed is how often people think you look older when you grow it out...this can be true, but I've seen hundreds of before and afters and in so so many cases women actually look more radiant and sometimes even younger. Not sure how it works. Of course, coloring or not coloring is a choice and every woman should do what SHE wants and not what others do whether that's rocking dye or rocking your natural silver.

Same here, Alison! I have been coloring my hair in some fashion since I was 18, so...42 years! I couldn't even recall what my natural color was. When my hair stylist told me I was at least 60% gray, I decided to just let it go. We had a plan for me to gradually transition, then the pandemic hit. I have about 2", it's blending in without too much of a demarcation and I really like it.

I’ve used the L’Oréal between salon visits and I too use it after showering on wet hair but immediately after spraying it I sort of buff it in with a dry washcloth. It helps blend it and keeps the sides from looking obviously “sprayed”. I use morrocan oil on top throughout my hair and then dry... it avoids that dirty feeling and takes minutes to do large areas of gray In my darker roots without touching my highlights.

I've been coloring my own hair for close to 30 years. For the past few years my grays are sprouting so quickly that I need to touch up my roots every 3 weeks. Revlon Colorsilk used to have a root touch-up product that was awesome... it looked like a bingo dauber and worked like a charm! Of course that was discontinued but it was actually more expensive than the actual box of color - my beloved Revlon Colorsilk is still less than $3 at Walmart! So I just color my roots every 3 weeks and I've been good. Like Angie, my stylist does a major color once or twice a year and all is well. With the touch-up sprays, my hair doesn't feel dirty, it's more matte and almost crunchy. Yeah, not a good feeling. But like the poster below this one, I've been spraying it on after I comb out my damp hair and fluff and it works out great. Fab video Angie!!

I'm going on 54 and have been coloring my hair (very much like yours!) for many years. Last time I was at the salon in Feb, I surprised my stylist by saying I'd like her to color my hair so it will look natural as I grow out my grays. That was good timing considering I won't be able to see her until May at the soonest. This video has great info if I change my mind.

Angie, I just started watching your channel and I am already a huge fan!!! I am 65 and been self-quarantining for 10 weeks. I had a serious accident and broke my neck, collarbone, and wrist. Have been coloring my hair forever (at the salon), and I miss my stylist/therapist. I have low and highlights in my hair so this root problem is tough. My grey is also around my face. However, since I am home bound, you have given me some ideas. I have thought of embracing my grey self, but can't convince myself. My roots are about 2 inches and I hate looking in the mirror. On an "aside note," I have eyebags (hereditary) and just watched your video on eyebags and concealer. I've tried everything and think I can buy an island in the Caribbean on how much money I have wasted. Thanks for the advice! I will be binge watching all your videos. I have the time.

I've been using the L'Oréal root cover up lately on 3 inches of grey regrowth, in the color dark blonde. Is a perfect match for my hair and extremely easy to use. My go to cover up spray was out of stock at ulta - bumble and bumble hair powder in blondish which works very will for me without that 'heavy/dirty ' root feel. The B&B powder is very tricky to apply, so L'Oréal has the leg up there! I've always combed my product through my hair and it does minimize that dirty feel, as the previous poster mentioned. I also use the spray as a low light once in a while.

You get color for the grey root touch-up and another bottle of color (for me golden brown) for the rest of your hair. Will be trying it this weekend. I think it's a great idea and they must be listening to their customers because this wasn't offered last year.

I love the Revlon system. I bought it when you did a video on how to use it. Apparently everyone else loves it because very early on when we first heard all our salons would have to shut down I went to get the product and it was cleaned out at every store I went to. Even Amazon advertised it and I ordered it and it was a slight variation -- it didn't have the one container to squirt and apply. Thank you for these tips. It will help me keep busy, well at least one day.🌺

In Vancouver , Canada our hair salons were closed 2 weeks ago. I am 59 and am now I am watching my roots with interest, to see what's growing in and in what colour and we will deal with what happens. I do notice that my hair is falling out more. In a telephone conference with my doctor ( on other medical matters) I mentioned my hair loss. She said that this is natural in times of stress and is cyclical. AND that her hair is falling out too so not to worry too much of this happens. And lets all stay safe and wear lip stain (not gloopy gloss) under our face masks.

Then using one of my quarter-sized Artis dupe brushes, I brush the color around the hairline for a soft touch up. No spatter or over spray. Only on your scalp if you want it there. I have light brown hair and this works for me.

Angie, you should check out a fairly new product, Clairol Root Touch-Up Color Blending Gel. It is a temporary color, which means it lasts about 2 weeks (longer for me because I only wash my hair twice a week), so it's not damaging to your hair like semi permanent or permanent dyes may be (for people who are concerned with that. What I love about it is that it's in a tube with a brush at the end, and you squeeze the product through the brush to get it on your roots. I have gotten 3 applications so far with one tube, and I still have 1-2 more left! The other great thing is that they have a red/auburn color (i'm a natural redhead), which is almost impossible to find in anything other than a permanent color! You can find it on Amazon or Target online. They also have a touch up powder as well that matches the gel.

And when the cupboard is bare and money is scarce, I rely on my trusty sharpie! They need to come up with a better brown however, as it is too orange, so I usually use black, even though I’m blondish out of a box. Works well enough for 89¢ !😀

I used to use the Rita Hazan spray, but actually, I ifound that i like thw Wow powder better, because it looks more natural for me and doesn't weigh my hair down as much as the spray does. I do have to touch it up after a couple days, but that's not an issue.

I have dark hair, and have been dying my roots for years, staying with the natural colour. I've tried dark blonde highlights to hide the growth, which makes my hair (and skin) look dull, so that's not an option because my natural dark hair suits my skin. I'm very grey at the top of my head only, so I can't grow out my grey because I'll still be two-toned, which sounds horrible! (And to lighten the still-dark hair to be all-over grey will destroy my hair's texture.) I've also tried colouring my own hair, but I ended up ruining the quality of my hair. So I pay a fortune every 5-6 weeks just to be grey root-less for maybe two weeks, because my hair grows so fast. Honestly I wish I knew what to do - I love my 'natural' hair colour and feel too young to go grey, but I am throwing money away for very short-lived results.

Hi Angie, I have been using the sprays for a long time, they are the best. However when I first used them my husband who is a lot taller than me, asked why my scalp was black. I now place a very thin wooden bamboo stick along my parting before I spray. No more black scalp.

I was going to cover my grey roots this morning and I purchased that Revlon Root Erase, I must have received a dud container cause no color came out of the other chamber so I didn’t get to try it, purchased the dark brown. I was reading some reviews and others are having the same problem with their cans. I was so sad it didn’t work for me. My stylist will mix my color for us but we have to use it in 4 hrs. Going back to my Clairol root touch up when I need to go to the grocery store.😂

I tried the Revlon Root Erase per your last root cover-up recommendation. Got the Light Brown and it matched my hairdresser's color perfect! 2 washes so far so good. Will wait to see if it lasts 10 washes. before I try this I had actually thought about contacting my hairdresser and asking if they can drop their dye solution or if I can pick it up, but I was thinking that it sets up after a certain period of time so that wouldn't work.

Thanks for being on top of it, Angie. Perfect timing for this subject. I’ve been using my L’Oreal spray as my roots grow out and struggling with the question as you say, is this the time I should just go gray? It would be so much easier. I just don’t think I can. Not yet. I had not thought of connecting with my hairdresser to get a color batch. Great idea. Thank you!

Do eeeeet! :). I did, about 5 years ago, and have never looked back. I figure if I really feel like something different, I will put in a very temp color like Fanciful or some other truly wash-out color. But I never have. Get compliments on my platinum all the time and my hair is SO HEALTHY now! :). It was getting so brittle and straw-like but now it's shiny and healthy. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I've been a hair colorist for over 30 years. This is good advice, I like the L'Oreal. But if I may say, having watched you for several years, your base color always looks too dark to me. It appears to be a level 5, too far away from your level 9 ends. Lightening the base to a 7 or 8 will be more flattering, plus the contrast with your natural color will be less noticable when it grows out.

Oh my goodness I absolutely love her contrast, it's so on-trend and beachy and a part of the reason that Angie looks so amazing for her age. Have you seen her before and after pics from when she first started KZbin? Her base was lighter and it totally washed her out. This color makes her skin and eyes pop. Plus, most importantly, she is so happy with it. Keep it up, Angie, you look INCREDIBLE.

Hi Angie, I have to use these temp gray coverage options within 2 weeks of getting my hair color done. I prefer the Everpro powder and sprays. I prefer the spray with minimal roots, and the powder when the gray gets more massive. Lol! The powder is not as tacky or weighty for when I have more to cover. And, I never have any problems with the powder coming off like you have experienced, even through workouts (and my head sweats profusely). With the COVID-19 salon closure, I recently tried Madison Reed after consulting my regular stylist, and that wasn't bad. Definitely better than going gray for me! Thank you for your awesome videos, Angie. They are always very informative and interesting, and I look forward to every one!
