We never had to conform to any rules society had put out there about age and hair length. The thing is a lot of woman get old and lazy. They go and tell the hairstylist to please cut their hair short because they don’t want to have to bother too much with it anymore. Imagine that? At a time in life when they probably have more free time than ever, they don’t want to spend a small amount of time on their hair. That will never be me.

I think long hair looks fabulous on older women personally! People should wear their hair the way they want to. That being said though - even looking at it analytically - I also love short hair on younger women (And being in my mid 50s, I often envy it a little bit!) Short hair, if full and feminine, really sets off a youthful jaw line, good skin, shoulders, and body more confidently than long hair in many cases. I miss being able to wear my hair shorter like I did in my 30s, LOL. However - I felt short hair is definitely more work - does either a really good hair day or a really bad hair day. Having almost shoulder length hair definitely allows for more flexibility and quick touchups more so than a chin length bob did, LOL. Speaking for myself though - I’m wondering if some of the older women might cut hair shorter due to arthritis concerns. I’m in my mid 50s, and just within the past 12 months my osteoarthritis has increased exponentially. Thankfully, my wrists don’t have it yet, but my fingers and my ability to write or grasp has gone down by 50% just within the past year or so. That could be a factor why some women want to change their grooming routine maybe.

Angie - your hair looks gorgeous, healthy, and really suits you. Why the hell should you cut it just because of your age? I’m 63 and have shoulder length hair. I will never cut mine short, I do what I want, if it suits me, I’ll go with it.

Love your long hair. I'm 68 yrs. and have my long hair back due to Covid. It's also All Gray (platinum). I had my last child at 44 yrs. old. I stopped coloring my hair at 56 and everyone kept telling me to color it. Thank God, younger woman wanted platinum hair color. I let my hair grow out Gray and never regretted it. I haven't had my hair this long since high school and love it. I am soooo glad I found you during Covid. You are an amazing woman.❤️

I'm 45 and my hair has been stuck in the shoulder-length phase for a while. I just had a baby 2 years ago (what a surprise and a blessing!) and I think that has definitely played a part. Hoping that supplementation and a good diet will help instead of having to buy expensive products. I love your videos! Thank you so much

My mother had long hair over age 50. She would set it in pin curls and it always looked fabulous. Everyone loved her long hair. I just turned 47 and my hair is a few inches past my shoulders. I have zero plans of cutting it short, ever! Not everyone looks good in shorter hair, regardless of their age. I've seen women my age that cut their hair short and it aged them about 15 years!

Hi Angie, I don't understand why so many people take the time to look for a negative or a fault in someone, we all have them. Many wonderful personalities, kindness, and love comes when we open our hearts to strangers, and find the good they share. I find Angie as a wonderful, kind, caring good person, she needs to change nothing about herself. Your hair is beautiful. Hugs, Sunny

I’m pushing 60 and keep my hair in a stylish above the shoulders cut. It’s wavy and very thick and so much easier for me to deal with. I’m not good with the round brush and blow dryer either and use the Revlon hair dryer brush when I want it nice and smooth. I let it air dry a lot which looks great too. Your hair is beautiful ♥️

Yes, I also noticed how your hair was long and I thought it was cool. I absolutely love your message to all women to diss the old-fashioned rules or what we should and shouldn't do. We are not aging like our parents so why should we still behave like them? On a side note, congratulations on how you take care of your body to keep it healthy and beautiful. I realize this particular video is several months old, but girl.....I have the EXACT same type of hair....all the way down the the cowlicks...even same side! Up until the last two years, I could never grow my hair past my shoulders. My success has mostly come from using Olaplex products. Currently, my hair is about the exact same length as yours, and I'm LOVING it! I have also gone through the same length/age battle. However, I have decided to revel in every inch! Thank you for all you do. Especially helping us more "wise" ladies feel beautiful in these well earned years!

Hey, Angie! I got a good laugh from your video's opening lines....Like you, I had heard the "rule" that women had to cut their hair shorter past a certain age, and I complied - for a while. But, you know what? My hair is super healthy, I feel like "myself" when my hair is long, and I don't give a flying fig what others think. My hair is almost waist- length, and I love it. PS, I just turned 64, and the photo you see of me is fairly recent. Haha, if someone has a problem with it, they can 'pound sand' as you so elequently stated...! More power to you, Angie!

I'm European also and don't understand these strange rules in the US either 😂 no-one would dare criticise a woman for the length of her hair in my country. We have our hair the length we want it no matter our age. US beauty standards are extreme and very conservative.

I am a guy but you are right. You can only control yourself, not other people. People are jealous over things they cannot obtain. They get not because 1) They ask not; and 2) If they do ask and do not receive ot is because , they ask wrongly if that makes any sense. My wife dresses in hippie chick fashion with long blond hair people cannot believe she is the age she says she is.

I am 55 and have been growing my hair out since Corona, not one haircut since Feb. 2020. I only blowdry my hair once per week, the other two times per week I let it dry naturally. The best thing that has helped me grown my hair long without haircuts has been using coconut oil on my hair twice per week, those oil days i braid my hair in one long braid down my back (I get so many compliments on my braid days). The oil has stopped me from getting split ends. I also use a collagen supplement everyday that i put in my coffee. I plan to get my first haircut in November. I have always thought it was so beautiful to see women over 50 with one well done lose braid, think Ralph Lauren ad campaign.
