I loved sewing my own knickers and I do have that pattern too. I made the brief, and in the gusset I used pure cotton interlock as it is breathable and nice and comfy near the 'girly bits'. I actually use the burrito method when attaching the gusset to the knickers, I love how it looks when you have finished and all the edges are sewn in, it is like magic!
@GingerheadCo4 жыл бұрын
I normally burrito mine, too 😁 I think making knickers is rather fun - and the scraps can turn into something very useful (and rather pretty 😊) I tend to use cotton or viscose jersey (for the breathability reasons, too) though I did use some stretch lace on a couple of pairs and they are comfortable as well 😊
@Allycat32704 жыл бұрын
@@GingerheadCo I have used fold over elastic for my undies and they look great I use a stretch zig zag stitch if you use a wide fold over elastic you could use your coverstitch machine, Your local Juki dealer must really love you........

@@Allycat3270 I can actually use the coverstitch binder for the foe (it takes a bit of practice but it works 😁) I'm not sure if Franklin's (the dealer) love me, I ask a lot of questions and I'm extremely particular about what I want 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you. I have made underwear for years but never used the coverstitch because I have an Ovation and struggle to get the coverstitch to work well. I dont have room for a single use machine. Ive been trying to use it more and have better success but dont think its a great coverstitch machine.
@GingerheadCo4 жыл бұрын
I actually quite like my ovation for coverstitching - especially for thinner fabric, I would say it is one of the best coverstitches so maybe the problem is somewhere else? I often used the ovation for my underwear because I tend to have smaller size needles (70) in it (now I use the industrial so haven't used the ovation in some time, but I have never had issues with it)

Knickers look great & you make it look so quick and easy. I’m not familiar with cover stitch machines, why is this preferable to using an overlocker.
@GingerheadCo4 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 coverstitching is not preferable as such, you can even use both for the elastic (my earlier video shows that, it's very quick but it doesn't work with very narrow elastic) Coverstitch machines are not normally used for construction and they don't have a blade for trimming fabric, but, like overlockers are great with even very stretchy fabrics so they are often used in sewing sportswear and underwear 😊 Coverstitching is mainly for finishes (you cover the seam with interlocking stitches and in most domestic coverstitch machines,you have 2 or 3 lines of "straight " stitch on the right side of the fabric 😊 this, of course can be changed - if you prefer the cover on your right side)

I had 2 zebra finches (rescues) Pip died first then Poppy a few months ago. I don't actually like birds kept in captivity so hopefully we will never find another bird we'll need to take home. I did love my finches and I miss their messy presence and happy chirping, but I like birds in the wild (I don't think snakes are pets either, my husband likes snakes) All our pets are rescues so we never know what we're going to end up with 😉
