After I watched your video I was able to make a little simple but nice 3D animation with my logo, but there's an animation I had in mind for my final and definite KZbin intro. it's a GKFILMS logo animation, It has the letters starting off as different pieces that move toward the center sliding into each other to form the final logo. Yes, I know it's an old post. Yes, I know we are now at 5.3 and there have been a few changes. But thanks! Was a great way to learn how to get up and running with Motion 5. One word of NOTE! For those struggling with the camera view controls... they are not 'buttons' to click. You have to click on them and DRAG to use them. That took me way too long to figure out lol.

In order to bring your animation into FCPX, you will have to export the video or convert the project to be read inside of FCPX as a title, transition, or effect. You can definitely import your own logo. It's rather difficult but can definitely be done. You need to have a .svg version of your logo and then you need to create a custom font using an online website. Great tutorial - I am using motion5.4.1 version. I am using a diamond as my icon, but can't get the diamond to spin on it's bottom point. I have a looping effect with the camera. How do I get it to spin on the bottom point of the diamond with the camera at a constant distance from the diamond. I don't quite understand all of the camera settings I would need to make this happen.

Also, please explain why you used the specific presets, frame rate & duration that you chose for the project. And, at the end of this video you apply a second camera (sweep) movement of tilt-x. So shouldn't that tilt the Apple logo? Instead it looks like the environment is tilting and the logo doesn't.. Have I gone blind? :P :P

+ali ali With a vector or file from Photoshop, you will have to export it as a .png with a transparent background. I don't think Motion 5 will accept vectors as images.

I think that this new piece of tech from Apple is definetly one of the best MacBooks out there, with killer internals, but a higher price point. And one port. A USB-C port, at that. It is a great piece of tech nevertheless but I do not know if it is practical for many since it only has one USB type C port. Many have different thoughts on it though. do you have a tutorial of importing a 2D logo in png or svg or eps format (NOT via text/font import like you do in this video), and making it 3D in Motion (even better in this can be done directly in FCPX of course :P), changing the materials of the entire logo, or separate parts of it), then moving the camera to show animation etc? And if i import my logo (instead of a font that makes a logo), then will i be able to apply different materials to the side (depth-side) of the logo, just as you show here? Last, if I want to animate different parts of my logo separately from the rest, will I have to separate the parts of the SVG/EPS file before, and then import them into Motion as separate files in order to affect & animate them separately? Or is there a way of selecting these different parts (and leaving other parts unselected) WITHIN Motion?

Hey! Thanks so much for reaching out. It looks like you want to import a relatively detailed 3D object into Motion 5. From what I've researched, you can't import a .svg directly to make 3D in Motion, unfortunately. I'm going to create a tutorial soon that will go over the process to make a custom 3D logo by utilizing a custom font where you can leverage your own .svg's. While it's not the method you want to utilize, you cannot achieve it without a 3rd party plugin or using another program like After Effects with Element 3D or Cinema 4D, Maya, DaVinci Resolve, etc. Motion seems to be pretty limited when it comes to importing and working with custom 3D elements. How else can I help? 🙌🏻

As far as me wanting to import a " relatively detailed 3D object" into Motion 5, I guess that " relatively detailed", is relative.. :P I was under the impression that Motion was the "Apple-version" of After Effects. But if you say that i cannot use eps and svg files in it to animate 3D objects in 3D space, then it can't be the corresponding software, can it? Maybe you know if there's another software that I can use for this in conjunction with FCPX to do just that? I saw the m02 logo pack that seems to do what I'd like in FCPX but regrettably the price is "comically" high for me since to make their logo pack work I ALSO have to buy their m02 app as well, and the price of the 2 is nearly the price of FCPX itself lol! (If I could buy JUST their logo pack software, which is very expensive in itself, then it'd be "OKish" since it looks quite good - but buying TWO of their products to be able to use what ONE of them does, is just out of the question lmao). So scrap that option. :P So I need a solution to be able to import and animate 3D objects in FCPX (so svg and eps files included of course), or even in Motion (but would rather directly in FCPX obviously). And of course NOTHING like Adobe's despicable "pay-by-the-month-as-long-as-you-live-or-have-nothing" price schem(ing)! :P So After Effects is out too lol. Any other suggestions?

Not necessarily... Motion indexes your current font library stored on your Mac, so, if you add a new font to your computers library, it will appear the next time you restart Motion 5. Hope this helped! -AkProFilms

I think both of these have their positive advantages. I use Motion for quick projects and titling as there is integration with Final Cut Pro X which I use. After Effects has a lot more support for plugins, like Element 3D, which helps import and track objects to your scene. After Effects also directly supports Premiere Pro. Hope this helps! -Kyle :)

Alejandro Javier First, you go to this link (bit.ly/logosfont - DaFont.com) and then you press on the download button. Also, if you were going to download another font make sure to check the license. Then when the font is downloaded, double click on the font. Next, when the dialog box opens with the font preview, press 'Install Font'. Also note, when you install a font you might need to close your current app to make sure the font library gets updated. When you install on a font on your Mac you need to quit the current application, and then reopen it. Basically the application needs to be reopened for the newly added font to appear. Hope this helps you out! :)

Title is misleading. There is no creating of a new logo. It is converting a font to a 3d extrusion. If your logo isn't stored as a font, then this video is pointless.
