Thanks for the video. What I do is create a watchlist of lets sat SPY calls/puts and add the option chain by strike to the watchlist and then send a option chain to your active trader by using the color link option.
@bryeh.79402 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to copy n paste. You can also set your workspace up to include the options chain. I put that and active trader on one monitor and charts on another. Whatever “link color” you have active trader set to. Just right click the option go down to send to…and throw it on that color.

"Some crazy person out there puts a market order to sell right at the open." That was me last week.
@tommystevens78472 жыл бұрын
If you wanted to continue to trade the same ticket, you could just erase P75 and replace it with C85 (to change from $75 put > $85 call) rather than copy/pasting again. You could also change the date. Just need to know the format symbolDateCallValue. Another option. have two windows. The left ticker chart (like normal). Right just active trader (set group to something else you dont use like 9). In option chain right click and send to 9. Now you have chart in left option in Active trader on the right.

Nicely done learned what i needed and once back on TOS doing Paper trades, the setting up Stop Loss and OCO became easy for me and clear, although I will say my practice made perfect as sure don't want leave profits needlessly on the table, as a few times I did not have all the right elements on/off and intended close, was an open for example, or the OCO wasn't properly linked. Video gets you started, then just do it paper trading til you're good to go.

I don't know that "no stops" on options is being conservative, especially on the day trade/scalp options. I prefer to set it and forget it with brackets. Thanks for the GREAT content, BTW!

Taking in account that SPY / QQQ are 24Hrs. trading instruments ( at least on TOS ), Can that be performed on OFF Market hours ? and the new OCO applies automatically to be safe on that trade operation ?... Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to have a conditional order on a option (IE buy to close if the underlying drop to a certain price) and when that order is executed it triggers a sell of the underlying security?
@arnisdaddy79052 жыл бұрын
The only thing I noticed about your order examples was the "Time in Force" or TIF was left as "Day" when at least the Stops and Profit Targets should ALWAYS be GTC (Good Till Cancelled)! Please correct me if I am wrong!
@shortthestrike2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'd pretty much always flip them over to GTC

Would it make sense to take the stop off at market start and add back in when market is stable? You really want the stop for when you are not at the computer monitoring the day's trading.

well if you trade options and use oco or triggers, I have two active traders up, one for call, one for puts. and triggers only work on close spread or slow moving options. i use it when im scalping to keep one of my screens busy.

I create a watchlist of the calls and puts, and link it to my AT, this way if price heads to a level you can just click the call or put you want. I don’t use stoops either on my Options, just mental. I also give more room with options 20%_25% , but mental stops, cause you have monitor the volatility and couple other data points

In ToS, how can I create a Stop loss order on my option to sell at the options Bid price? I'd like to set my OCO template to stop me out if I'm 0.50cents under my entry price. By default it triggers on the "Ask" which seems very stupid because it doesn't work the same as stops on the stock itself does. So for example, I buy an option contact at $1.50 and the Bid is currently at $1.25 so it's a .25 cent spread. Then I want a stop loss to take me out of the trade if the Bid falls to $1.00.

Thanks for video but question @5:42 What if the Sell order at 1.10 get executed first ( Before Buying option it actually sell the option ) ?
@shortthestrike3 жыл бұрын
The opening order has to fill first before the two sell orders will go out there. That’s the main benefit of using the 1st triggers OCO. The first order has to fill before the sell orders go out. Then whichever sell order fills first will automatically cancel the other sell order

So On a put say they price is .80 you bought at. You would want the limit to say .60 for taking profit? Going down would be limit where as on a call it would be .90 for limit right? Thanks
@shortthestrike3 жыл бұрын
Not in the case of purchasing the put. If you purchase it at .80, you would want to set the limit above that to take profit. Keep in mind, when you buy to open, you want to sell it for anything higher than that to make money. When you sell to open, you want to buy it back for anything lower than that to make money.
@frankbizy3 жыл бұрын
@@shortthestrike Thanks! So you are saying it’s the same as a call you want it to go higher right. Thanks

I can't put stop orders for options (/ES and SPX), anybody knows why?
@shortthestrike Жыл бұрын
You'll only be able to use limit orders on futures options, but you'll be able to use stops on spx options just like normal. I don't know the exact reason for the rule on futures options, but I'm willing to bet it's because of illiquidity and they don't want stops activated all the time just because of wide bid-ask spreads.

There is actually a faster way to move options into active trader. I right click on the option and send to the corresponding color linked to active trader. I prefer to have my chart and active trader linked to two different colors because I dont like the option chart when having a option contract loaded.
@shortthestrike3 жыл бұрын
I really don’t find the “send to” option much faster honestly. Maybe a second faster. I guess overall I’m just not a huge fan of using the active trader for options. But I think your way definitely makes more sense.
@Mr_Duck_RVA3 жыл бұрын

There’s even a faster way that’s one click instant: click the letter next to the bid ask of the strike! Boom!! It’ll open the contract in the trade tab above on the right side window, which you have linked to a larger chart in the charts tab or wherever you execute from and it’s instantly populated just by clicking the letter!

it doest make sense becuase you dont know how to do it, you dont need to copy, mark you active trdear with a color, just right click and send the contract to that color, simple, I WATCHED SOME OF YOUR VIDEOS, YOU DONT KNOW A LOT OF THINGS AND MAKE THINGS VERY COMPLICATED AND HARD
