Appreciate the good overview of lasering the challenge coins. You mentioned in the video that the embossing took ~2-1/2 hours. You also described how you did an embossing then followed up with a 'light' engraving to brighten the result. Was the 2-1/2 hours cumulative time for both layers or only for the embossing? If only for the embossing, about how long did the 'lightning' layer take? Regards, Tom

Tom sorry for the late reply was traveling. XTool makes it very easy. You can take a vector image, doesn't have to be 3d they then make it 3d in the software. It's really point and click. Use the settings or experiment with some. And based on size of coin, it will take 1.45 hrs to 3 hours. The client cycle is fast. Just a few min

Curious, if anybody has tried rotating the coin one or more times before the clean out pass just to see if a different angle feathering proves the process

Why doesn’t anyone show a time lapse of the coins processing!?!?! I have done several coins now all failed. No one shows what a successful run in Timelapse looks like and it’s so frustrating

So hold on a second; the point system...Are you telling me that in order to use the software that they created for use with their laser you need points? And the points are obtained by purchasing the unit but if you are batch printing/engraving/cutting those will get used up pretty quick...Sounds like a variation of a subscription that glowforge get gigged about. Additionally, in order to get "points" you would have to purchase things from them in order to increase your point number which even for glowforge many would buy their own stuff to reduce their overhead so it almost defeats the purpose...

The embossing feature requires points. However, you could use image r. To do it too. Image R gives you a few embossing a day for free but if you need to do more it will cost you as well.
