I usually put the flat end against the bun, take some hair from the bun, press it towards my scalp and then pull the curve outward as I push the bobby pin in to the bun with the wavy part as close to my scalp as possible... I have LOOONG heavy hair and doing this, I only need 5 pins for one bun... Aldo, if you have reaaaaally long hair and have to do multiple laps or hair around your bun, it might be a good idea to start with the pins earlier and place one every third of a lap...

+♥cyndercake415♥ You may want to try using roller pins instead of bobby pins or hair pins. Roller pins are bigger and stronger; they can hold a lot more hair. Sally's sells really good ones that come in neat containers.
