Ginger Dust I really enjoyed your monologue of what you were considering when setting up the strong boys, what you were looking for or at when using tools. I am a general contractor in Canada ( jack of all trades, master of nothing, always in awe of extremely skilled/intelligent people). When I walk through a jobsite I will touch the teleposts to hear if they click or feel if they vibrate to know if something is loose or shifted. Many of the building I work on are 100 year old slack lime mortar buildings. I enjoy watching how you work, what you are considering for quality and safety, and try to learn to bring this to my own jobsite. I looked back at your previous videos such as the stone gable ends and the last jobsite. It seems to me this one you showed more of your experience. For other guys it seems that they just show how fast they can spread muck. I was watching how you handled the tools and setup. The video seemed a little steadier. Not all camera shots were POV bouncing around. I enjoy learning what’s important to you and your methods. Can’t wait to see more from the successful GDC construction company :)

Hi, wish you all the very best in your new venture, if you don't mind a bit of a tip, for less mess, no dust. . . and in particular when you are having to recover the bricks . . Go and hire an ARBOUR SAW from Travis Perkins, trust me you will never go back to a grinder and dust again.

@@GingerDust69 Hi, it's full title is an Arbortech AS170 All Saw, there are videos on here of them being used, I got my first when I was out in Perth in 2010, brought it back here and well, it's a god send, you can even cut doorways inside properties. I am in Staffordshire if I were closer to you l would let you see it working. If you are thinking of buying kit, go to the BPI auctions site and sign up, they sell mountains of ex hire gear, nothing wrong with it , just the Hire companies replacing there stock. all the best to you.

You are obviously not scared of a hard days work, so that is a big box ticked straight away when you are your own boss. Looks the perfect size of job to do on your own as well, the key is to get plenty of small jobs to start with to get the cash flow ticking over nicely with regular invoices. DON'T UNDERCHARGE YOURSELF EITHER!

@rinse9484
@rinse9484 4 жыл бұрын
Hello from the Netherlands. I was also very surprised by the props under the wall. Apparently they are common use in England. I found them here: www.strongboy.co.uk/ In my quick research they can carry a load of up to 340 kg. Which is not much if there is a wall to support. I also find them quite far apart. But then if you look on the internet that is the way they are used in England. Surely there must be some restriction on their use. I work as an architect in the Netherlands and we never see them here. They will not be allowed under our regulations. We have a different system. It's called "Stut Alone". They consist of an angle iron which goes into the wall an have two stuts. One in tension and one in compression. You can find them here: www.nemaco.nl/verkoop/product/11938423-Stut-Alone-gevelstempel-inclusief-stempel They are certified to carry a load between 825 and 1140 kg depending on the height they are set to. Obviously they are a lot more expensive than the "strongboys", But a wall coming down or cracking is even more expensive. Maybe Ginger Dust or someone can shed some light on the use and restrictions of the strongboy.
