Thank you, I was the one who just commented about the music on the old video. I was going to suggest a Pixinsite 1.8 updated video but you beat me to it!!

Hi Amy, a useful video. But I do this slightly differently. Once I had set up all the icons I use in my workflow and then positioned them to the right (as you did), you can then select all the icons with a left button click and dragging as normal, then right click and select 'save selected icons' to where ever you wish to save them. Then, when I start PI I left mouse click, select 'Process icons' then 'Load process icons' then get them from the where you saved the file. Happy new year :-)
@AmyAstro3 жыл бұрын
Having them set up as icons is a huge time saver. I have another workflow that uses that. I over simplified my identifiers, so I fear only I understand them. lol I should make a video showing this option also. Happy New Year!

I am new to PixInsight. I have looked at this both ways, but wanted to do this by saving a set of Process Icons. I discovered right away that the Blink Process evidently can't be saved as a Process Icon. Would there be a work around for this or might saving this as a Project make more sense if I wanted to capture all of the icons?
@zaphus3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this - been wanting to do this myself. How does a project template differ from saving a set of process icons using that menu option? Incidently, there seems to be some loud errant music at 1:30-1:50 that makes it hard to hear you

I will check that out. Thank you. Just habit. ;)

Congratulation on your teaching skills and thank you. I have only in the hobby for a year and have decided to give Pixinsight a try. I use a CMOS color camera with an Ha, OIII filter. Do you have a suggested workflow. Thank you.

Thank you! Are you looking for how to process an image with 2 filters? Or something else. Let me know and I will do what I can.

That's useful! If there is one template project you like to use all the time, you can make PixInsight load it automatically every time PixInsight starts up. Here's how: (1) Find the folder in which PixInsight resides. In Windows, that is c:\Program Files\PixInsight. Someone can chime in and tell us what it is in macOS and Linux. (2) Under that folder, find etc/startup. (3) Put your template project (such as mytemplate.xpsm) into that folder. (Administrator permission required.) (4) Also, in that folder, create a file whose name ends in .scp, such as mytemplate.scp, and make it a text file containing a command saying to load your template, for example: .open "C:/Program Files/PixInsight/etc/startup/mytemplate.xpsm" Note the period at the beginning of the line. (5) Keep a separate copy of these files because they may be overwritten when you get a new version of PixInsight.

Hi Amy, thank you for share, specially the detail about the MLT process, I need some advise from you, under the script Subframeselector, I understand the value 0,60 or bellow is a good number, but what do you recommend for SNRWeight & FWHM values?, Thank you on advance
@AmyAstro3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay, I had to get home and read my notes. FWHM and Eccentriciy are negative properties, meaning the larger the value, the worse the exposure is. SNRWeight is the opposite. It is a positive property. The larger the value, the better the exposure. I tend to use Eccentricity as my guide of less than 0.6. I try to remove the elongated star images as my priority.

Amy, can you share what processes you use in your OSC workflow/template to include your "go to" setting tweaks? I tried to mimic your tools and setting from your 4 part OSC videos but it is hard to see the details in the videos. Thanks! Another great accelerator for us beginners!

Did you record with the new echo damping elements installed yet? To me it still sounds a little spiky-ish. I saw these dampers at a fair, but they were bigger (like 2 ft by 3 ft) and the booth staff told me they weren’t as effective when you shrink them in size.

Yeah new panels are up. I need to remember to lay a blanket on my desk. It has a glass top. I am still talking into two monitors.

Hi, Thank you for this informative video! When I open my template project the icons return to the center of the PI screen, instead of staying on the right side where I dragged them.
@AmyAstro3 жыл бұрын
I will have to admit, this is a new one for me. I do have 2 monitors and found that whichever I claim as my primary monitor, PixInsight will only work there. All of my pop ups and icons stay on the primary monitor. Crazy question. Have you saved the project with them where you want them? Then reopen the project?
@dawnpaulandelizabethromero34583 жыл бұрын
@@AmyAstro I will keep researching it....It may very well be that the icons stay in place and I was a bit in a hurry with my conclusion!
@timmyers34282 жыл бұрын
when saving a project, can you also save the parameters used in WBPP?
@AmyAstro2 жыл бұрын
With this method they seam to reset each time. If you create a new instance with all the settings and save that. The settings will stay. I have now created multiple new instances for the MLT function so I don't have to retype all the settings.
@keef70t3 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy - great video as usual. I try all sorts of MLT settings depending on how terrible my data is. Just wondering, do you ever use Multiscale Linear Transforminstead of Starlet and Chrominance/Luminance instead of RGB? Best wishes for the New Year and please send some clear skies over the pond!!

Hi Keith, I use the Chrominance often. I have not tried the others yet. Is there one you like best?
