I'm in a volunteer group and the only QA on my team. Feeling overwhelmed because I'm still a novice and need to create a test plan for the project.

Volunteering can be a great way to get some experience. Don’t over stress it, especially if it’s volunteer. Try to just create some high level that will be easy to follow and just use it at practice and learn from it once the project is finished.

Do I need to add a bug report and test cases in my test plan?

Yes, this may differ from team to team, and depending on your software your company uses but the test plan is a living document and be be edited and changed. You want to associate the test cases and bugs with your bug report so all the documentation is easy to follow
