love the background, always been hard for me. Have that book but can't color well anymore. Arthritis in my thumb and I can't bend it so makes it hard to hold the pencils. Sucks.

Love the technique! You have a great gentle touch. I love Prismas, and I don't touch other colored pencils. The key is indeed to keep layering. Prismas are the easiest to blend and layer with. And I have one tip to perhaps help end the hate portion of your love/hate emotions toward them. Sharpen the pencils by hand with a very sharp Exacto or a utility blade. It takes a lot of practice to hand sharpen the points but it reduces torque on the waxy pigment and it prevents breakage dramatically. Prisma uses a soft wood that takes well to hand sharpening. Gradually whittle the wood casing away to expose the lead and gently rub the core on a scrap paper to get the tip you want. When you get better at handling the knife you will be able to whittle the tip you desire with the knife directly on the core. Concentrate on shaving rather than slicing and you will get the knack! (Practice practice practice!)

Wow! You go above and beyond in coloring! The apple didn't fall far from the tree! Do you free hand draw? You have a great eye and I bet you have done art of your own! Would love to see some if you don't mind! :)
