You'd be amazed what plants can handle. Just look into the techniques people use on cannabis plants to fit them onto tents. You basically half snap their stems multiple times and they just form big strong callouses in those parts leaving them more resilient than before.

Those little plastic training pots are awesome, i have the exact same ones. Very affordable, drain holes have built-in screens, and there are plenty of little holes on the underside to help with with wiring the tree into the pot. Very good product.

It does not hurt or harm the tree 😊 Larches are super flexible when they are young. With other species I be super careful as not every tree is this bendy! With older species too - gotta be super careful and only make small adjustments at a time

Could you please discuss raffia vs. tree bandage, particularly bonsai tree tape.
@notionbonsai
@notionbonsai Жыл бұрын
Hey! I think that they both more or less do the same thing with the idea of protecting the bark of the tree from wire when we do drastic bends. Raffia is derived from the raffia palm this is more suited to major bendings or shaping of thick branches or trunks. Tree tape is a little different and a more modern approach, though I much prefer the traditional raffia when protecting trees as I think it looks more aesthetically pleasing, I will sometimes use some tape/bandage when working on much smaller branches as I find this can be easier to work with. Hope this helps!

No you wouldn't get drastic bends that way and the part of the tree that was in constant darkness would very likely die back.
@colinfranks4635
@colinfranks4635 2 ай бұрын
What would likely happen, if the tree is prone to back-budding would be that new shoots would spring out in order to reach the light. The original structure of the tree wouldn’t change much. This would also probably kill the tree if you did it too long.
