For 3ds max would you just make a sphere, flip normals and add uvw map as sphere?

This is great! Is it possible for the sphere to have a flat bottom?
@LuminousLabs3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that should work. It may take some time to flat the sphere if you do not know how to make it but I could do it in Blender if you want. The biggest issue I would see with this is finding an HDRI texture that looks correct with the flat area.

Amazing Sir ... But a little confusions. In SketchUp for outside grey material you use glass texture and for inside you use HDRI image? Thanks a lot
@LuminousLabs3 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. The glass is just to see what you are doing. In lumion you can just make it invisible so light passes though the outside. If you can’t get it type “hdri” into the 3d warehouse I have some pre-built :)

Every single time I try to unwrap the sphere with Sketchuv it only unwraps the exterior face. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks in advance!
@LuminousLabs4 жыл бұрын
Let me double check and I will see if I can replicate it, I think I might know what is happening. For the time being if you type "HDRI" into the 3D Warehouse you should see some premade ones! You can take those and apply whatever texture you want in Lumion and it should work.
@LuminousLabs4 жыл бұрын
So I think I might have figured out the problem, when I was doing it again it was messed up until I clicked on the materials in the top right under entity info. Try manually changing the glass and UV sphere. It might be a bit weird but the numbers should looks backwards because you see through the glass and at the inside of the HDRI.
@LuminousLabs4 жыл бұрын
Make sure when you use SketchUV you hit the "top" or "side" camera, any way works really you just need to make sure that you are facing it head on then do a spherical unwrap.
@davido19414 жыл бұрын
@@LuminousLabs Hey thanks for the quick reply! Yeah I already downloaded all the 3 models you uploaded to the warehouse and they work perfectly fine! It's just that for some weird reason whenever I try to make my own the Sketchuv plugin unwraps the exterior face only lol. By the way keep up the good work. This channel is pure gold.
@davido19414 жыл бұрын
Hi I discovered what was going on with the wrong unwrapping... Basically for some versions of SKP you'll need to right clic on the sphere and select 'Reverse faces' with that little trick Sketchuv will unwrap the correct face of the sphere!

Do you mean how do I get an 8k image from a .HDR file? The site I often use for HDRIs is called "HDRI Haven", and there you have the option to download a jpeg below the HDRI files.

Make sure Sketchup is set to allow any resolution image.
@ShomitSarkar4 жыл бұрын
@@LuminousLabs i think re importing the image in lumion will fix the low sketchup resolution.
@LuminousLabs4 жыл бұрын
@@ShomitSarkar That is a good point! The reason why normally say to turn on any resolution in sketchup, is only so the HDRI can be used in it as well. Looking back at krauser's question I should have mentioned you can just reimport it to Lumion as well.
@ShomitSarkar4 жыл бұрын
U asked for suggestions if u could have done better. Place the center of the sphere to the center 0 0 0 axis co ordinates of sketchup. That way when u import,the sphere is positioned already correctly. Also when u scale the sphere,the center can be realigned to the 0 0 0 of lumion easily. Also in lumion push the ground below using the sculpt tool.
@LuminousLabs4 жыл бұрын
I should have mentioned that as well. Normally I drag the model and HDRI into the sky but for projects that would not allow someone to do that I should have given them another option. Thanks for the comments Shomit!
@hekuranmusli10724 жыл бұрын
just use the grey texture it already has because lumion already consideres it to be invisible you dont have to add a glass material - just thought you should know
@LuminousLabs4 жыл бұрын
The glass is actually only for viewing it in Sketchup! Just so you know that everything was applied correctly. I may have misspoke in the video.
@hekuranmusli10724 жыл бұрын
@@LuminousLabs Okay great job! Thank you for clarifying.
@peternauta30774 жыл бұрын
I think the reason why it imported with the glass is because the material file from SketchUp had "glass" in the name, and then Lumion overrides and swaps it with their own glass material automatically.
@LuminousLabs4 жыл бұрын
I think what I meant was why Lumion always defaults to the blue glass. You are 100% right about the name glass, it is just strange to me that the glass doesn't directly go to clear. I often see new users thinking blue glass is just the way it is in Lumion
@peternauta30774 жыл бұрын
@@LuminousLabs ahh gotchya, yea mine defaults doors and windows clear, but if my opening has "glass" somewehre in the file destination, than it turns every component of the opening to light blue interior glass, inlcuding the sill and trim/frame.

@zubairsaifi58503 жыл бұрын
@@LuminousLabs they are one of the oldest company in this market. I have seen a couple of engines that were introduced in last few years like D5 render and Enscape3d and they are evolving really very fast (there are many I just named 2) The way Lumion handles foliage in exterior shots is amazing, but in interior it's hard to get realism. I don't know if it's their management or their R&D that has been procrastinating but if they don't wakeup and look deep into the market and work around their prices it's game over for them. D5 render is 500bucks with lifetime update and Enscape3d is just 50-60bucks a month

I do want to play around with D5, I think they're going to be Lumion's biggest problem in the future. I am really not a fan of Enscape though I have seen some okay projects but I really didn't like it overall.
