I'm really new to this and I was able to follow all your instructions which means you did a fantastic job of showing the steps but I am lost on the next steps of getting it to be an STL file to put into Lightburn. I have no idea how to do that part. I will go look at your library and see if maybe you already have that video out there. If not, any help you can give on the next step would be great! Thanks again for your help so far!
@SilverPunkPourАй бұрын
many thanks Greg, so happy it has been of some use, Im not totally familiar with lightburn but I think for laser engraving you should be able to just use the depth map once you have created that, as that can be used to engrave with, you do not need the .stl file.
@ΜΟΛΩΝΛΑΒΕ-μ5μ16 күн бұрын
You don’t use STL files with lightburn. Once you have your map all done and saved as a PNG, open in lightburn, double click the settings box on the right, select 3d sliced and enter your settings for whatever material you’re engraving on, set passes to something like 250-300 depending on your lasers power. Last brass coin I did I think I used 353 passes. Turn on cleaning pass to help remove metal dust and you’re all set. If you’ve never made a coin on a laser, you’re looking at around 2-2.5 hours of runtime.

The part where you put the images in GIMP and say 'It will change all the colors for you' does not happen when I drop the images there. Maybe there was a little cut in the video? how to assign the colours of the depth map to the original image? Thanks for posting though, very intresting video!
@SilverPunkPour29 күн бұрын
Hey Sergejg many thanks for watching, on mine, i drag the depth map in first into GIMP, then i just drag the original image on top and it converts it automatically for me, if its not working for you like that, what you need to do is an extra step, you will have to try and convert the original image into a grey scale image, GIMP does mine in 16 bit greyscale. This all said Sergejg, im working on a new video where i showcase another way of doing it which is a lot easier, and only takes 4 to 5 clicks to do the whole thing for you, i will be getting that on youtube very very soon!

I’d like to find a way to use TiledZoeDepth(Map) as a general Web user without having to go into the login world of Google Collab. Other than free Google Search on my Mac, I don’t use other Google tools (on the web or locally) at the moment. I love the higher detail with the tiled approach to ZoeDepth, and your extra detail using GIMP’s gray scale and high-pass filter, then merge with the tiledZoeDepth Map is genius (would never have thought that would work and then get a functional final high-detailed depth map!). I f you do find a non-Google Collab workflow, please let us know. And I subscribed, so I can see your next video showing your whole process. My primary use will be to use these depth maps as the starting point for 3D printing figures and set pieces.

Hi Dovmerrill ! thank for taking the time to watch and leave a message, yeah im really not sure on this, i know you can download it locally and just run it on your machine not sure if this is what you mean? doing that though you would need a lot of computing power, if i do see anything or can come up with something will 100% make a video, my full process video should be out end of next week :)

@@SilverPunkPour Thanks for the reply, and for BuffaloBullioNY’s comment. Sounds like the software runs locally on Windows PCs with Beefy Nvidia cards, but The software probably doesn’t run natively on a Mac. Not surprised the number crunching consumes lots of CPU and/or GPU computation bandwidth.
