How to Create ID, Mattes in Maya Arnold & How to Use Them in Nuke For Compositing | Tutorial

Hi! This session is me demonstrating how to create ID Mattes in Maya Arnold.
First we will go through how to create them, followed by the usage of them in Nuke.
02:25 - creating light aovs
02:54 - creating the shader in hypershade
04:15 - creating id matte renderpass
11:10 - assigning colors to selected region
17:20 - using them in nuke

Hey you're welcome! Yes you can, deselect the checkerboard icon to the right on the render layer and it will not render that layer in batch. Hope this helps!

@@davidmonteiro6822 Man! I wished I could attached a screenshot, but it's at your render setup panel, all the way at the top, below the "File", you see "Scene" right? That's the one you need to turn off, apparently the main layer is the "Scene" layer. Haha! I hope this helps you!

Preferably not, but if you insist on using colors that's outside of rgb, you will need to use a different technique to split out the mattes for example you can try Keyer and slide around the difference luminance, but it will be a bunch of work around just to get the selection which will makes your script messy. So if you can, stick with just rgb! Anyway you can reuse the rgb in multiple aovs, so no need to complicate life haha!
