Let's go on a field trip to Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware (RH) to look at their furniture, then go home and recreate the effect using 2 things - a paint and a glaze. This project took me 1 day and not even the whole day, because we when window shopping before. I cannot wait to show you how to do this painting technique, and I hope you try it out too!

Thank you so much for this video. I have a solid wood dining room set with a dark finish and I really want to change it. I have been going back and forth with what I want to do.🙈 I love this finish so much, I think it will brighten the space. I will give this a try. Oh boy oh boy! Once I start there is no turning back. Love this finish! Just a question, did you do a white wax or anything else as a last step or just the white base and glaze top? Thank you!

Thank you for watching! Great question- The glazing acts like a top coat, however if you like the waxed look you can always go over it with plain wax. I’m not a big fan of white wax or lime wax over paint, so I didn’t try it. If you do, please let me know how it goes! I would be curious about the results.

Yes it would. I would prime cherry wood first with a clear shellac first (there’s a spray version). Cherry wood bleeds like crazy.

Thank you for your question. You do not have to sand all of it off, you just have to break through the topcoat and get some “tooth” for the paint to adhere too. Just let me know if you have any other questions.!

The glaze actually is a top coat. But if you want to add a top coat to change the sheen you want.

I completely understand. You can leave on for a heavier finish for sure!
