Hi Justin. First of all, thanks for this other amazing video. I learn A LOT from you. I have a few questions:1- On your example of the dependencies, it shouldn´t be the opposite (flash being installed if the system detects Chrome)? 2 - What´s the difference between "Install for System" and "Install for user"? 3- On the "Content" tab, when should we use the options "Persist content...", "Allow clients to use distribution points..." and "Deployment options:" ? 4- On the "Programs" tab, how should we use the "Installation start in", "Uninstall start in" and the "Repair start in" options? 5- All the applications that are installed on the clients, are downloaded locally before the installation right? How can we clean the client local cache, is there an automatic task in SCCM to do that? Is it possible to install de applications pointing to the DP without copying the files? Thank you one more time.
@PatchMyPC5 жыл бұрын
1: in my case I usually deploy chrome, so it made sense to have flash install when chrome does. 2 runs the installer under SYSTEM context vs per-user. if you don't want the content to be cleared in the event the cache is full and more applications need to install. 4. if you want to run a local like say in like c:\windows usually not done with applications. 5: Yes, and when space is needed for other installs.

What's interesting about this is I did this with an Plantronics HUB EXE. Except the uninstall string in the registry pointed to an MSIEXEC /X (MSI Product ID)). Also the registry was under the product ID and was located in the normal SYSTEM\MICROSOFT in registry instead of SYSTEM\WOW6432Node\Microsoft. But the program was installed under Program Files (x86). I pretty much followed the same and found the silent install string but used MSIEXEC /X {product code}. This is handy since I can now control versions and published dates as well as quickly modify the app entry but also the paramaters when deploying an EXE. Not sure if anyone did the same but even though this involves a small amount of more work, I think it better than packages and the way it can be used to detect if you have the latest version installed.

Hey Justin, great video, I'd like to ask one question. On the deployment wizard under deployment settings, if I choose the "Automatic upgrade any superseded.." option and in order for this to work I have to previously fill the supersedence tab under the application properties windows correct? I mean if I haven't put anything in the supersedence tab and still choose this option it will not work automatically if there is a newer application in SCCM. Am I correct?
