Excellent explanation! Is there a way to translate data labels on charts, ie on a pie chart? There is no fx field like for the Title, and I can't find a solution that doesn't involve an external tool like Translations Builder, which my employer does not allow.
@EnterpriseDNA Жыл бұрын
Hello Samuel, No, currently there's no way to simply translate the data labels since there's no option of fx available under that section of the pie chart but you can change the titles and sub-titles with the option of fx provided by Power BI. And since external tools are not an option in your scenario, there's no way out here unless Power BI adds those options inside the visualizations. Thank you for the video ! Great explanations Why don't you use translations using Tabular Editor or Metadata translations external tools ? With this technique, you will have only one page.

Government clients (in my experience, at least) often have very specific translation requirements, and external tools are rarely available/permitted; hence the workaround

What about this option: Original table is in original language in Excel say Tbl1. Copy the header column into a new spreadsheet and use Goodle translate doc on it. Copy the result back ina new sheet Tbl1_SP, repeating steps with French for Tbl1_FR (both with no rows). Import all three versions into your PBX. Then make DAX versions that are Tbl1_d_FR = UNION(Tbl1_FR, Tbl1) and Tbl1_d_EN = UNION(Tbl1_EN, Tbl1) (in this example the first table is in Spanish).The only sore spot is by testing this I found I need to put in 1 row of empty values formatted as the 0.0 numeric and then transform, remove 1 row so they would be in the right data type in the UNION. (Not have to pick SUM of manually). I don't see an easy way change the DAX to an IF statement about which things to UNION based on a slicer. If the tables change (such as bad translations) just delethe imported header table and reimport it wih the correction. PROS: One set of data per table. Column names follow the data. CONS: You do have to know what they are to pick them. YMMV

Instead of creating multiple columns for your data and then measures.. just create one more column with a language short. Create a language table and connect the language short with the language table to filter. And then „copy paste“ your data three times underneath, each copy in a another language and its much cleaner
@gregphilpsful3 жыл бұрын
Thanks David. My solution reflects the way many of my government clients currently store their data. I'd be interested to see your approach ... if possible, could you post a sample PBIX on the Enterprise DNA support forum?
@zm28133 жыл бұрын
David, good suggestion. I personally think your scenario works best for smaller tables or if the data is small. If you have 3 source tables, then you'd need to deal with them separately or alternatively you can merge them by creating the index column as you suggested.
