you can buy a t-shirt pattern from the fabric/craft store, scan it into your computer, and digitize it on illustrator. :D if your scanner isn't big enough, you can draw lines all over it, scan sections, piece it together on photoshop, and then move it into illustrator. Then you have a blank t-shirt template. (know your seam allowances though. no factory works with the nasty 5/8" seam allowance that are standard on most home sewing patterns. pretty easy to shave off with illustrator.)

I have contacted 5 seperate manufacturers, all have advised they are unable to send out print files. I also contacted gummy apparel where you had mentioned in a previous comment. All have denied to release their print files. Any advice on why this would be the case or how I can obtain such file?

Thanks Aaron. I usually send the .ai file to the manufacturer for printing. I have no idea what they do after that. Its the first time im hearing about a .dxf file

@@DesignPilot I was the so stumped when they first requested that as well. It's having to do with the scaling and the programs the company uses. When you export the .ai file as a .dxf (some autocad file) it asks for scaling information. Pretty interesting! Probably as a safety measure as well.

hey I have a question.. ; so you say (and it IS) the colors will be a little washed out when you change the mode to CMYK. So, having the "mockuped t shirt" imported into the document *before* the document is being changed to CMYK, don't the colors in the *Design that you take for the reference* will be changed?

+ZENGen Learning It's common for some differences to be there. But try your best to be as exact and precise as you can. Minor differences won't make a difference because when the jersey in worn, the minor differences won't be shown.

I'm asking how? My designer sends me the print ready files once the design is done. then I send it to the manufacturer and they do all the individual changes for print. I want to be able to do that myself so all they have to do is print. This way if there are misspelled names, it's on me. Or better that I can make sure I'm not getting misspelled names

It best to not move them or delete them, as it would be easy for the Manufacturing Company to edit the file the way they want as they were the ones who provided it

Print file in illustrator is for printing purpose only. 3d mockup in Photoshop is just for presentation on banners, images, websites and stuff
