How to Create & Restore a Windows Backup Image in Macrium Reflect Using the Recovery Media

Macrium Reflect is a program that can create system image backups as well as do file level backups. When it comes to restoring backup images, you can either do it from Windows using the Macrium software or if your computer has a problem and cannot boot into Windows, you can use the recovery media method to boot into the Macrium Reflect recovery mode and then restore your image from there. You can also configure the software to add a boot menu listing to Windows, so you do not need to boot to your flash drive with the recovery ISO mounted.

Have you ever used Macrium (or Hasleo) to do a bare metal restore? Meaning, different hardware? I'm considering it, when I upgrade my PC. Disk partitioning will be identical (larger SSDs). Clean install ideal but so many VST plug-ins this is better.

It should work but the hardware will be different so Windows might complain and hopefully installing new drivers will take care of it. If you Windows key is an OEM key tied to the motherboard that that most likely will be a problem.

Macrium is "on the nose" now it is subscription only. Hasleo backup is very similar (better in my view) and FREE.

Also Macrium ( saw in reddit) that one can download and use version 8 for free but I doubt if it's checked by the team for updates and bug fixes.

@@OnlineComputerTips tnx for reply.. i did not mean clean install rather a backup image install on laptop without operating system, how to prepare backup image with boot possibility to be reinstall on laptop which is clean with out any windows on it.. Thanks again

@@arshia1961 Macrium and other similar programs have what they call a bare metal restore which is when you restore your backup to a computer with no operating system. reflect.macrium.com/help/v5/how_to/redeploy/redeploy_a_system_to_new_hardware.htm
