Yes, we love this technique because it's such a shame to waste resin once you've poured a batch. Becky's done a ton of videos for us over the years featuring small little projects like this, you can see more of them in our resin playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLdGWVJ-tb1bHGPqmDTH01kwyokh5xRHz-

Hi just loved your tutorial but I wanted to know if after you use the resin to do the pieces can you use the clay piece to do other pieces
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 4 жыл бұрын
Although the silicone cannot be made into a new mold, the molds can certainly be used afterward to cast new resin pieces.

Dear Becky, thank you so much for this great video. Your pieces were all awesome, are they all reversible? They looked so lovely on both sides. Any one of them would look great as a single charm on a simple bracelet, so the charm would take pride of place. One question, how can you tell the difference between a cast bezel and a precision - made bezel? Love from Amanda in Australia :-)
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 4 жыл бұрын
The pieces are unfortunately, not reversible. The best way to tell if something was cast is to look for imperfections in the plating of the metal as well as the shape. Thanks for watching!

Hi , I’m enjoying your video’s the one thing I can’t get my head around is how you got the shell type design in to the original mold size, did you use a bigger design and press the putty and bezel into it . I hope you understand my question.

I don’t understand how you make the centre mould fit into the bezel as you don’t have centre pieces the same size as the bezel in your initial mother mould

What is the purpose of using the purple putty color, can you use any color and then even further question is why mix it with the white? Wouldn't just one color portion be sufficient? I'm not criticizing, I truly want to know and learn! Thank you, Stacie in Ohio
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 3 жыл бұрын
That part can be confusing if you're not familiar with two-part silicone putty, let me explain more about what's happening there. The purple part and the white part are sold together as a kit for making a silicone mold. They're designed to work together chemically after being mixed, and the different colors serve as a way to tell when they've been fully mixed. After you mix them you have a few minutes of working time where you can make impressions in the silicone putty in order to form it into a mold. After half an hour the putty will fully cure and you have a finished mold. Silicone is wonderful molding material, it's re-useable, it holds a very fine level of detail, and it's self-releasing, which is another way of saying it's non-stick. Because of that you typically don't need to coat the mold with anything before pouring in your resin, most pieces can simply be popped out when they're done and your mold will be ready for another use. You can find the two-part silicone putty here: beadaholique.com/products/easy-mold-silicone-molding-putty-for-casting-and-jewelry-making-1-2-pound

You cast pieces without the bezel... make pendant pieces or extras to craft with... .....But you can also just go on ebay and buy like 1000 or these cheaply from China... don't get them from Beada-hol-i-cow-THAT'SEXPENSIVE-que....
@BlackCat_2
@BlackCat_2 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip but really it isn't that expensive considering what you are getting. I do appreciate it though as some things bulk from China are a good deal however I would question the quality of 1000 bezels really cheap regardless of where it came from. Also Nunn Design bezels are at more sites than just Beadaholique and all the prices are relatively similar. You are paying for the quality as well as the name that backs that up.

BlackCat2 meh... you do realize she is just buying them bulk from the same suppliers and then just repacking them and marking them up like 300%? Its not like she is handcrafting these.... look em up.. you'll see! www.dhgate.com/wholesale/jewelry+bezel+blank.html
@BlackCat_2
@BlackCat_2 7 жыл бұрын
No she isn't. True she isn't handcrafting them but they are being made for her from her designs and in the USA. She also sells wholesale so what? That's great for her. Check this out: www.nunndesign.com/about-us/

Also for the record I could be making bezels like that if I chose to. It's called Metal Clay (or sometimes precious metal clay) so look into that. It is crazy expensive so therefore I can see the prices she charges for her bezels.

Is the resin scratch resistant ?
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 3 жыл бұрын
The epoxy resins we've worked with in jewelry making are all very hard materials that don't easily scratch. They're not marketed as scratch resistant in the way that resin for table top finishing is, but I'm honestly not sure if there's a difference. The resin we use is self leveling and self-healing, which means that if a scratch does occur it's easy to repair finished resin by applying more. If you're interested, this is the brand we use most often these days: beadaholique.com/collections/ice-resin

Does these yellow? Are ur resin items breakable? Thank u.

Once the resin has hardened it is less likely that is will yellow, but if left in the direct sun it may do so. Hardened resin can break if it is stuck hard.

I tried making a mould but after I rolled it and pushed it down. I pressed in the bezel and stamp. The silicon the started expansion and getting bigger, filling most the bezel up?

If you cover the whole surface with Mica powder, why would you bother with colored resin? You will not be able to see it, right? It would have been better to only use Mica powder in the deeper areas of the plant...
@beadaholique
@beadaholique Жыл бұрын
The color resin adds some depth to the areas the flower design that may not be fully covered in mica powder. A design like the one you mentioned is a great idea as well. We did something similar for the bee design in the video. Thanks for watching!
