I find it much easier when masking a duplicate video instead of the text itself like you sandwich a text between the duplicate and original. But I think this is just more convenient in huge projects. Great tutorial!

there is actually an easier way to do this .basically you copy paste your image or video into another layer ,and sort of have your layout as layer 1 - image /video layer 2 - text layer 3 - image/video copy then you mask the main object on the first layer ,that way no matter where you place the text it will always be behind the object . this might be better for videos though because they tend to have more movement in general

When I move the playhead in the pan/crop timeline, the video playhead doesn't move along with it for some reason, and I would like to know how you make them move in sync

Click on the little "lock" icon when you open up the Pan & Crop window and it will be synchronized!

1:16 When I use the slider on my Video Event FX tab it doesn't move the preview slider on my other tab like yours is doing. It's making it difficult to tell where to mask at each given frame. Absolutely! It's the same principle. When the door opens you slowly reveal the text just like in the tutorial. Also it doesn't matter if you start from the last keyframe and go backwards in the timeline or start from the beginning and go forward.

Thank you very much! Unfortunately I have to say that the Movie Studio Platinum software has no masking tool. This feature is only available in the regular Sony Vegas Pro. The only option you have is to create very basic masking with the cookie cutter that should be located in your Video-FX.

This was my very first tutorial on KZbin. The reason I had my VEGAS set to German is simple. Back in the days I couldn't change it to English because every time I tried, the programm become half German and Half English instead of full English. That's why I decided at that point to leave it on German and translate all key points. Nowadays all my tutorials are in English only!
