Shouldn't the USB key be formatted to ExFat or NFTS,....formatting to Fat32 limits files to 4gb and Win10 install seems larger than 4gb

At the end of the video, when you're formatting the USB, KZbin recommends the next video & blocks part of the screen where you would see you formatting the drive. As it is, i can not see what you're formatting the drive to. Whether it is NTFS or exFat etc. Pls let us know.

I had a Lenovo computer with Windows 8 on it. The hard drive went bad or at least I was not able to get it to work. I got a new hard drive but did not have any recovery tools to reinstall Windows on the new hard drive. In bios, I did see the Windows license number and did write it down. Any advice on getting Windows 8 put on the new hard drive. I hate to throw the computer away since it was fairly new and I had had no problems with it before it crashed. I believe the screen went black and I tried everything to get it back up. After trying to get the computer black screen to work without luck, I took out the hard drive and transferred all my data on to my current laptop so I would not lose my files. Then a reformatted the old drive, hoping to be able to reuse it. The old hard drive was not usable for some reason, so I bought the new hard drive. It seems that the bios was not booting up the new hard drive because it kept wanting to boot on a USB or DVD. I was getting frustrated with it. I watched one of your videos and was able to clear the bio to boot on what I want but the computer is not recognizing any Windows in which to boot up. Any advice. Sorry this is so complicated.

@@PC_Monkey Thank you for responding. I could not get the Microsoft UBS Recovery Drive for 8.1 to download from the Microsoft site to download to a UBS drive. It says support for 8.1 has ended. I was able to unlock the problem with my bios only wanting to boot from an external dvd.

Question I know absolutely nothing about computers but I think. you made an error when you stated you usually use a 26GB USB drive, now for my question? I have several 32GB Usb drives and I can't seem to get them to format, I got them from Amazon, did I get a bad batch or am I doing something wrong, I'm using a windows Tobisha laptop approximately 11 years old but still functions just fine for my needs, I want to install windows on my Dell laptop that my grandson deleted the hard drive while playing around with my Dell, any suggestions.

Your computer turns on and works well other than not being able to create the install media USB? Have you tried to format it yet?

In most newer computers, the install process pulls the product id code from the motherboard. As seen here, there isnt a need to manually enter it. Are you being prompted to enter that code?

When it asks where I want to Install Windows, it only gives me an option of Driver 0 Partition and then it says Windows can't be installed to this hard disk space. It must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS. What does that mean? I have replaced the old hard drive with a SSD. Also, I downloaded Windows 10 to the USB to put on the PC that has the new SSD hard drive but do I need to download drivers to the USB too?

Are you trying to upgrade the computer your currently on to Win10 or are you trying to create the USB? If your trying to create the USB, did you choose the correct option (the secong option) so its creates the USB and not so it tries to install it to your computer?

I think anything that would fit that m.2 slot pcie x4 80mm 42mm should work. You can check the user manual, the manufacturer website, or sites like crucial.com and they can scan your computer and offer ideas on upgrades :)

When the install options come up on the other laptop, it has "Update" (amongh other things in that box), but my laptop gives the message that "updating" is not an option and it will not load. I have forced the USB boot from the BIOS, but I can't get passed that "Update" box. The laptop had 10 Pro on it and just faded out one day. It does respond to BIOS commands, but will not load Windows. I can only save the ISO file as a web link, so that doesn't work and it won't load from the Cloud either. I was doing nothing special when it failed; it just faded to black. Any ideas?

I must be missing something. But if you can't boot at all I guess you need another computer to do this? I have tried to change from UEFI to legacy but get an error to install a boot device and press any key. When I change back to UEFI the computer goes into another start up loop. Old Acer Aspire laptop.

I bought a computer that had a hard drive put in it that came from a computer that has windows 11 on it. It won't update due to my cpu being an i5 gen 6. I've heard there is a patch that will allow win 11 to update with this cpu. Does anyone know where to find it? No. You can use the USB for anything as long as its still good. You may have to erase the install media on it or reformat it though in some cases

You can, but it will erase everything on the HDD/SSD. Its usually best / easier to use a USB

Unless your computer is very old, the install media should recovery the product key automatically during install :)

After a successful install, you should be able to remove the USB and use the computer normally. You are able to do that? But after turning the computer off and then on, you see the boot error again and have to reinstall Windows new again?

Press Windows key+ X ,then go to local users and groups ,then Users, then double click on the Users tab then go to Member of , check if there's Users and Administrators , if there's no Administrators, go to Add at the bottom left and type Administrators in type box, then enter, go back to apply those changes then it should be done

I usually dont recommend that. So I know you can do it as others do successfully. But I cant recommend that on my channel. There is a chance of loosing files.

Is it me? I’m trying to watch this on my phone and I am unable to see the full screen. I just watched an earlier video by PC Monkey, and same thing… He would say something like I’m going to choose this option, but you can’t see the option. At least not from my phone. Windows update I downloaded does not give me an option for "USB Drive" or "ISO File" to choose from. It states that my "C:" drive does not have enough space to install upgrade. Help please...

I would try the USB in all your USB ports. Some computers will only accept one of them for this use. If its still not seeing the USB, perhaps there is an issue with the USB. I would then try another one.

So after i start my pc, everything loads like normal. After my desktop loads my screen goes black. Still see my cursor. But just black screen. Able to pull up task manager, windows explorer nowhere to be found to restart. So i run explorer.exe. to see if i can restart it. Then my black screen loops back and fourth...i go to the website and grab my USB formatted ready to go, grab windows...cool. And now when i try to boot up i can not locate the USB, after the f12 menu. Ive selected each USB option and none of them will work. I either get invalid partition or nothing at all. This question is probably very dumb (not very savvy with tech) but is this something i need to do in safe mode? I can not find where i can get to this USB to reinstall Windows 10. I know there is hope, but cant see the forest for the trees.

@@PC_Monkey 1. the pc i have was a hand me down from a co worker. here is the info i have found so far, ...CPU AMD PHENOM (tm) 9550 QUAD - CORE PROCESSOR, hopefully this is the correct information for question #1... 2. the only thing that has happened, i was playing MTG arena on the pc, after exiting the game the pc crashed, (blue screen that said something to the jist of your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart, we are collecting some error info and we will restart for you). after that the pc booted like normal and the desktop would load, and then the black screen issue...no overheating, liquid spill, or windows update. nothing out of the ordinary except for the crash after playing the game...

@@PC_Monkey My apologies for the late reply, since out last message i have been trying to get information on this pc that would be more accurate but i can not seem to find the correct details as far as the brand goes. I believe it is some sort of HP/dell computer but that may not be accurate. it was built by a coworker who for some reason i cant get a hold of...Later i was able to get my task manager pulled up to locate the usb with windows 10 os and get it to start installing while trying to keep my files. during that time it got up to about 90% roughly then the system crashed. So i started it again and everything went smooth, after about 100% the pc went into (diagnosing pc). everything seemed fine and then i got an error saying that the pc cannot locate the driver. please install the driver. Now im really lost. The pc reboots every 10-15 seconds and now the window logo does not even appear. Im to the point now to where if i lose all my files thats fine, but i cant even get to a windows logo, nor do i know what driver i actually need to get, to get this this sorted out. The only information on the actual case of the pc says LEPA, but im sure thats not the actual brand. Has this issue ever happened in the past where the system just starts rebooting every 10- 15 seconds?

@@hauss Sounds like at least one issue we can identify. If the OS was installing or resetting and crashed, the OS may now be no good and may need to be reinstalled. But for that, we need to get the computer on. For a computer that does not turn on, try this video first; kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYClimehZ7Khlc0. Let me know how that goes :)

After creating this install media USB, you would plug it into the computer when it is off, before turning it on. Then you would turn it on and try to access the startup or boot menu.

When I select that I don't have one there is a message compatibility report "The upgrade option is not available if you start your computer using Windows install media. If a copy of Window is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After Windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows Setup. "

If I start with the USB, it will ho to Windows install screen but I run into the issue posted earlier. This started after an automatic Windows update. I'm currently on Windows 10

If your browser remembered your passwords on various websites and you uninstall the browser or install a new version of windows, then no, those passwords are no longer stored anywhere.

I have never tried to install that software. Many software installs require a licence. Do you have one? Did any paperwork come with it when you purchased it? It should be in there.

Thats very common unfortunately. Can you use the keyboards tab or arrow keys to navigate? Or, you can try using an external USB mouse

Are you trying to create a Windows 10 install media USB and your getting this error? Or are you trying to use a Windows 10 install media USB to install Win10 to a computer and getting this error?

I dont fully understand your comment. Your installing Win11 to your computer using the install media USB. It completes the install. Then what? Do you end up at a working desktop? If not, what happens exactly after the completed 100%?

not at all, i changed a new battery, even though the original was working properly. the problem like i said, it is when turn on the laptop, it will not boot up completly, it goes half way and then turns itself off, that is unplugged, but if i plug in it will turn on right away. what do you think the problem maybe? i already download the bios but it is the same thing.

@@leonelhernandez9086 1. Yes, it sounds like an issue with the battery. You replaced the battery even though the old battery was fine? 2. Is the new battery a brand name battery or a generic one? In my experience, only about 60% of generic ones work :(
