Today's video goes into detail on how I created this resin wall sculpture. From making the moulds for the resin to assembling and adding the D-ring for hanging.
To recreate this, you will need:
5mm Foam Board (or equivalent)
Plastic Bags or Bin Liners
Craft Knife
Spray Adhesive
Resin
Colour (pigment, ink or paint)
Heat Gun
Heavy-Duty D-Ring - suitable to hold 5Kg

Miss Sue I don't want to hear you call yourself an Idiot again! You are a CREATIVE GENIUS I love watching your video's:) You are such an inspiration!!! You really get me thinking of how I can use your process to create something magnificent! What a beautiful piece to turn into a clock or a lighted piece! You have become my favorite artist I watch with anticipation to see what you create next! I'm sure you are working on something as I comment on this post! Oh and I chuckled when I saw you in your housecoat checking on what you did the night before ( this was in a prior video) I do the same thing:) Looking forward to your next video! Absolutely share it. I think I learn more from mistakes than I do from the successes and those save me a lot of heartache and MONEY, lol. So I very much appreciate and actually look for artists who share the good bad and ugly instead of just the perfect pours. So I for one thank you kindly. I'm new to your channel and boy do you make beautiful pieces. Thanks and cheers!

That is beautiful!! Thank you for sharing. :) Sorry to hear about the built up resin layer in your cup. This is why I leave a stir stick/popsicle stick/plastic spoon in my cup of leftover resin. When my piece is partially cured (12 hours or so) then I use whatever I left in the cup to pull up the leftover resin and it comes out clean. :) - Heidi
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
I reuse my sticks by placing them on plastic after a pour. I also reuse my plastic cups, I empty what I can out and then let the rest of the resin cure in the bottom. I get several uses out of them. I now also clean my jug straight after a pour to avoid this happening again.

Hi Sue, I have been working for weeks on my project based on what you have shared with us. I am so amazed at what you create...beautiful. I though, am not doing so great with my project. I am writing what has happened to me so others don't make my mistakes. What you did looks so easy and clean I thought I can do something like that too. I have used plastic bags and trash bin bags to line my foam board molds. I am trying to unmold and so many have stuck to the bag and I can't get the bag off. Be careful what type of bag you use, not too thick and not too thin. I wish I had used release mold. I am sick thinking of the resin I have wasted. Anyway, some of my store bags had words printed on them, that transfers to the resin and ruined those too. Don't use bags with words on them. I don't know what I will end up with but I will keep plugging along. Thank you Sue for your tutorials and sharing your ideas.
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
Pam Baskin sorry to hear that you have run into problems, thank you for sharing though, that is a big help for others. Are you able to sand the bags off the resin, same goes for the writing? If you sand them back, you will be able to apply a thin layer of resin to get the shine back. I hope you are able to salvage your project. Let know how you get on. Good luck 💕
@pambaskin
@pambaskin 5 жыл бұрын
@@SueFindlay Thank you for the suggestion but there are so many, not sure. I might just redo them and be sure to use the right type bag. and no words printed. I can't believe I didn't think about those words the first time I did them. I should have known better. I'l keep you posted.
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
Why not sand a couple of them to see how you get on, it might not be as bad as you think. I would hate for you to have wasted so much resin. Good luck 💕

Sue Findlay okay. This is UV resin. Do you dry normally out in air to set resin ? Or with uv ray machine?
@SueFindlay

Manisha's Innovative Creations it cures naturally, I don't use a UV machine.

WOW outstanding !!!!!!!!! how thick is the foam board is it the ones from the dollar store or Walmart and the other board it is what kind of board? thank you
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
The foam board I used was 5mm thick. I can't comment on the Dollar Store or Walmart, as we don't have those shops in Australia. The other board is just a thick board I bought from Officeworks. Any thick board will do as long it is sturdy.

Yes, certainly. That would work fine. I used an extra sheet of foam board on the back panel.

Another masterpiece! You may have said and I missed it, but what is the circumference of your circle and the length of your longest piece? If this is in your book, please let me know and I will order right away!
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The diameter is 66cm, and the longest piece is 30cm. As for the book, it contains information for those who are brand new to resin. It shows techniques to get started; It doesn't, however, have projects for you to do. 💕

Hi how many 5mm boards are needed to make Designs. Instead of the plastic bags. Could syiflane work. Sorry I spelled it wrong.
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
It all depends on how big your boards are. I don't know what Syiflane is, sorry.

I can't remember the actual sizes, however, you can get the four different sizes out of an A4 sheet. If you go to my Community Tab, I uploaded a template that you can use.

Hi again Sue, what sizes are the pieces in inches and how many of each size did you use? I am gonna try this one. How much resin was used for this piece
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
I don't work in inches, I printed the designs out on A4 paper (whatever your equivalent size is, it will work well). I can't remember how much resin I used, it has been almost 12 months since I created this. Although, I am pretty sure I mentioned how much resin I used in the video. I also made 48 pieces plus the base. I will see if I can find the design layout and add it to the community section of my channel.
