Thank you. Although at some points i found this slow and over explained i did learn. I never knew how to crimp, nor which side. I do watch videos to learn about things So thanks and people “don’t always be in such a rush, learn properly at the beginning saves tremendous time in the future “

Thanks for the comment. As far as slow and over explained, I definitely understand. This video was in my early days when I first started posting on KZbin. I have noticed a lot of my videos are longer than needed. I'm still learning as I go and trying to make better and shorter videos whenever possible.

Although I appreciate people who take the time to share this info with others, why does everyone who has a video on how to crimp spade connectors take so much time before getting to the point of simply showing how to actually do it?

this was a very helpful excellent video for new person, like me. one question, in the case where the spade connectors are not covered, could just use heat shrink wrap, correct?
@WelkingVue5 жыл бұрын
You could do that or you could use electrical tape to cover it up, but electrical tape could loosen up, so make sure you wrap it up good.

I noticed on a spade terminal that has insulation on the entire spade that some there is a gap between the plastic and metal and some the plastic is tight on the metal. Does this affect the insulation, does this mean the one with the gap is faulty?
@WelkingVue Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what's going on, but I'll just tell you this. Insulation is just there to prevent unwanted connection and also to protect. Connectors are to connect wires, so as long as the wires stay connected the connectors are doing their job.

Does it matter if you connect it upside down, like if you flip the female spade around would it make a difference?
@WelkingVue5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what your saying by flipping the female spade. All that this is, is connecting two wires together. Spade Connector are just one of the many method you could use to connect wires.

I have a cotton candy machine that uses the male and female spade connector. However, when it is spinning at high speeds, the male and female connector disconnects really easily. Is there a way to crimp them together so they wont disconnect while spinning? please help! thanks!
@WelkingVue8 жыл бұрын
I will assume they disconnect because when spinning at high speeds there is more VIBRATION. Only you would know because you are there to inspect it. I think the problem might be your connectors I think the female might be too loose that's why the male keep falling out. Yes you could come up with creative idea and crimp them. You could use a plier to crimp the female while the male is inside the female. Maybe you just need to try a different brand of connector maybe the brand you are using is cheap? I'll give you some ideas, are the wires long or short? If the wire are long, why don't you tie the wires together or use a zip-tie to tie the wires together, then connect male to female. If you need more help, let me know!
@WelkingVue8 жыл бұрын
If you just started having that problem because you installed new connectors, then maybe you could try what I told you, but if you didn't install any connectors and just want help, then I advice you to put in new connectors because maybe the old connectors are wear-out.

I want to connect two wires that are different gauge sizes (one larger than the other), can I do this or will it not work?
@WelkingVue7 жыл бұрын
The wires could be connected together. You would want to use same size connectors. I would not recommend connecting the wires if there is a big different in size, let's say one wire is 22 gauge and the other is 10 gauge. Really, it depend on what you are powering up with the wires.
@Alex-The-Working-Class-Hero7 жыл бұрын
Welking Vue it's a wiring harness for some fog lights. The wiring harness wire gage is smaller than the switch wire. Thanks!
@WelkingVue7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how your set-up is like, maybe using inline fuse would be a good idea. Just remember if there's too much heat smaller wires will be more likely to burn. I'll just tell you this what you do will be up to you. I connected a lot of wires before that are not same size, haven't had any problems.
@Alex-The-Working-Class-Hero7 жыл бұрын
I don't see it being a problem. Although it is nice to get some feedback from someone who's more experienced. Thank you. Keep up the good uploads!

I never thought about using PVC. Thanks for idea.
@9393jack6 жыл бұрын
You missed crimping further down the sleeve on the part over the insulation. You crimp over the exposed wire first, like you did, but then you should crimp just over the insulation as it helps hold the connector to the wire and displaces the stress from the exposed lead to the insulated area.
