Thanks for the testing. I'd imagine the main line would break way before the crimp leader.

@@rasserrati5466 exactly, they are just used for abrasion at night.

BHP tackle makes some really nice ring and grommets that work better than chafe tube

@@user-wg9du5si1o ya there’s a lot of things you can use, I just like the tubing best for this application.

@@ChasingPelagics yeah that ring and grommet is probably a little too serious

Think centro makes the same crimper, bought one earlier this year and its been a solid investment for us.

Can you please teach how to calibrate a hand crimper?

No calibration required

what size Polyethylene Tubing do you use?
@ChasingPelagics26 күн бұрын
Polypropylene, I like the Parker stuff the best. Just match the ID of the tubing to your line size. .105" ID I use for 300lb+ and they only make one size smaller that I use for 100-250lb.

Do you think it matters if I use mono leader vs flourocarbon for jigging? I was thinking of redoing my jigs with 200 pound flouro instead of the 250 pound mono I'm currently using. I just bought a whole new roll of mono and don't really want to waste it either.
@ChasingPelagics26 күн бұрын
There is no advantage to flourocarbon at night. You are already fishing braid that does not stretch, the bend on your rod tip and the monofilament act as a shock absorber to keep that hook it. Only use flourocarbon in the daytime. 200lb stuff is just for abrasion resistance not for drag. 200lb fluorocarbon is also rather expensive. Daytime I’m using 100lb or less flourocarbon.

@@ChasingPelagics Thanks! I like fishing the daytime and have been using 80 pound flouro for my jigs, and it has been working fine but always thinking about the durability if a Tuna swallowed it and started to chew through the leader. The 250 pound mono I currently have it setup for my night jigs. I'll keep the current mono setup for night time the same then.

@@joesomontan9374 the trick is daytime jigging, try to make sure your hooks are only at the bottom of the jig, try to keep the leader out of the mouth.
