Do you think it matters if I use mono leader vs flourocarbon for jigging? I was thinking of redoing my jigs with 200 pound flouro instead of the 250 pound mono I'm currently using. I just bought a whole new roll of mono and don't really want to waste it either.
@ChasingPelagicsКүн бұрын
There is no advantage to flourocarbon at night. You are already fishing braid that does not stretch, the bend on your rod tip and the monofilament act as a shock absorber to keep that hook it. Only use flourocarbon in the daytime. 200lb stuff is just for abrasion resistance not for drag. 200lb fluorocarbon is also rather expensive. Daytime I’m using 100lb or less flourocarbon.
@joesomontan9374Күн бұрын
@@ChasingPelagics Thanks! I like fishing the daytime and have been using 80 pound flouro for my jigs, and it has been working fine but always thinking about the durability if a Tuna swallowed it and started to chew through the leader. The 250 pound mono I currently have it setup for my night jigs. I'll keep the current mono setup for night time the same then.
@ChasingPelagicsКүн бұрын
@@joesomontan9374 the trick is daytime jigging, try to make sure your hooks are only at the bottom of the jig, try to keep the leader out of the mouth.

what size Polyethylene Tubing do you use?
@ChasingPelagicsКүн бұрын
Polypropylene, I like the Parker stuff the best. Just match the ID of the tubing to your line size. .105" ID I use for 300lb+ and they only make one size smaller that I use for 100-250lb.

Is it ok if your rods have a bit of corrosion/slight discoloration u der the guides? Is this normal? I recently bought a used rod and I pulled on the guides and blank and it’s sturdy but worry that this could maybe cause problems idk? It’s very little tho maybe I’m just being picky
@ChasingPelagics2 күн бұрын
@@socalfishincrew5410 normal with salt water use, and long as the guides are not broken, and the plastic insert is not damaged should be fine.

Hearing those big cows are caught right by the tuna pen. And rest of 3/4 days are going the same area to catch it. Hearing there is only 2 tuna pen filled with tuna. Rest of 8 are empty. Don’t think our sports boat should be going there. That’s the same reason why Guadalupe is closed.

No rod storage under the gunnel is a big FAIL. What were they thinking. Where would I store all my rods/gaffs/de hooker /etc. it’s a ~.$130k fishing boat with no fishing storage. Definitely not The same company. This model is a reflection of that in many ways. It’s a shame cause I was really considering this model. Everywhere I look it seems like only negative reviews/comments.

Need more insulated fish boxes long enough to hold large wahoo and kings. Maybe in the floor. Definitely need 2 large live wells. A built in functional tackle box system would be awesome. I would probably mount it to the back of the cabin (rear facing) towards the fishing deck. Ideally it would be adjustable to hold various plano style box sizes with slots for knives, crimpers, pliers, scissors, etc. Also the back of the cabin can be used to mount additional rod racks so you don't have to transport rods up top where they can get broken off by trees or laid on the floor for them to get slung around.
