How to crochet a pretty shell stitch cardigan / sweater - baby and girl's sizes

This tutorial will show you how to crochet an easy cardigan / sweater / jacket for a baby or child. This pretty cardigan is a suitable project for beginners.
For size 0 - 6 months use a 4mm crochet hook
For size 6 - 12 months use a 4.5mm crochet hook
For size 1 - 2 years use a 5mm crochet hook
For size 2 - 3 years use a 6mm crochet hook
For size 3 - 4 years use a 6.5mm crochet hook
For size 4 - 5 years use a 7mm crochet hook
For size 5 - 6 years use a 7.5mm crochet hook
For size 6 - 7 years use a 8mm crochet hook
For my cardigan I used a 5mm crochet hook and Drops Paris yarn.

Im so impressed at how well you explain every stitch and row, especially for beginners. So Ive sent your link to my dear friend a new mum and new to following crochet patterns. She loves this gorgeous cardi. one query though - in the first row AFTER dividing for armholes etc you only mention once briefly about what to do at the under arm. Ive replayed the video several times and still not sure if Im doing the right thing under the arm in the first row straight after dividing row. can you please repeat stitches to make more clear what to do at the underarm? In round 8 after dividing for the armholes: ch3 and turn (this counts as 1DC) *work 5DC into the 3rd DC of the next shell, work 1DC into the next individual DC* repeat from * to * all the way along. In this round make sure that you do not go up into the armholes, just go straight across. I hope this helps, thanks again for watching x
