Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been looking for this explanation for a while and this is the best that I have found! The tutorial is clear, very concise, easy to follow and understand. I appreciate your effort and work you put making this video. Again, thank you!

your videos are amazing. if you wouldn’t mind…can you do this with a sweater that is entirely single crochet?
@DoraDoesАй бұрын
Thank you. Yes, this technique would work with single crochet. The numbers would need to be adjusted according to gauge etc but the principle is solid ☺️

Great video, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. How did you come up with the number of stiches. Is there a formula? Does the number differ from yarn to yarn? Thanks.

Glad you found it useful. There isn’t an exact formula. I sourced this from knitting resources- but what I went with was starting by working half way round and then add 1/6th the length (that’s from memory so don’t quote me on it!) I’ll see if I can dig my design notes out!!

Hi Dora! Great tutorial! I am looking for a sleeve technique since I don’t like the sleeves in my current pattern at all! How do you decide on the 61 (or 83) SC preparation row in the beginning of your project?

Hi, glad you found it helpful. So I extrapolated this technique from various knitting books and the length of the first “long short row” will influence the shape of the sleeve cap. Essentially I worked up to the shoulder seam and then a bit further (if memory serves it was about 1/6th of the circumference) so the first short row is about 1/3 of the total armhole circumference. TY sts the starting point I worked with and ironed it out in testing! I hope that helps.

Hi! If you don't mind helping me out I don't quite understand how I would continue my sleeves after the part you stopped in the video. Do I just keep working in the round? Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, that’s right. I’d continue in turned rounds once the short rows are done. If you wanted to add butter shaping to the sleeve then that could be done at this stage. I have a separate post on sleeve shaping; doradoes.co.uk/2022/03/31/how-to-work-out-sleeve-shaping-for-crochet-garments/
