Awesome video tutorial. I got this wild idea that I would crochet my best mate a beanie for his daughters birth, and went and bought a book etc. I found this video quickly, and found it extremely helpful to see things visually. The only mistake I have made as using larger yarn than yours, and I missed one stitch on round 2 :) Overall, I am so happy with the results and am nearing the end of round 6. I have been doing it obsessively for the last few evenings, and it really satisfies the itch my hands get of an evening. I even sat down and watched a movie with my partner tonight!! Thanks from Australia :)

I'm glad to hear that you found the tutorial helpful, even if the sizing didn't quite match the intended baby size. It happens to the best of us! Adjusting the yarn weight and gauge can sometimes lead to unexpected results. If you decide to try the pattern again with chunky yarn for a baby size, you might want to experiment with a smaller hook size or fewer stitches to get the desired dimensions. Regardless, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the tutorial, and I appreciate your positive feedback. If you ever have more questions or need assistance with any future projects, feel free to ask. Happy crafting! 😊🧶

Great instructions! I'm looking to make a baby doll hat. How would I adjust the number of stitches in order to make a small hat for a doll with only a 9 inch head circumference?
@AdoreCreaCrochet10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment😊 I'm glad you found the instructions helpful! Adjusting the hat to fit a smaller head circumference, I recommend that you try your hand at making fewer rounds with increases. Measure continuously with a measuring tape around the circle until you have the correct measurement. Best of luck with your project

I was wondering if you would be able to explain a little further on making it bigger. I’m wanting to make one for 3-6 month size for my grandson but am a little confused on the increase.
@AdoreCreaCrochet11 ай бұрын
Of course! To adjust the size you will need to make more rounds and increasing the number of stitches in each round gradually. For this hat I make 12 new increases in each round. To make the hat a little bit bigger, you can just make 6 increases in the next round. An increase is made by crocheting 2 dc into the same stitch. Remember to keep track of your increases and check the circumference as you go along. You can try the hat on your grandson or use a sizing chart to ensure it's reaching the right size for a 3-6 month-old head circumference. Best of luck with your project🙂

If I wanted to make this cap for a premie, do I just stop increasing when the circle measures 3-3 1/2” then continue without increasing until the hat length is about 4”?

@AdoreCreaCrochet2 ай бұрын
For a newborn crochet hat, you’ll typically need around 50-70 grams of yarn, depending on the pattern and the yarn weight you’re using. If you’re using DK or sport weight, you might need closer to 70 grams. For heavier yarn (like worsted weight), you might use a bit more. It’s always a good idea to have a little extra on hand, just in case. Happy crocheting! 🧶👶✨

Hello! I wanted to make one for a 3-6 month old baby - would increasing my hook size work? Thanks so much!
@AdoreCreaCrochet7 ай бұрын
Hello! Increasing your hook size can indeed help adjust the size of your crochet baby hat for a 3-6 month old. However, it's not the only factor to consider. Here are a few tips to help you achieve the right size: Select the right yarn: Choose a soft and lightweight yarn suitable for a baby's delicate skin. Look for yarn labeled as "baby" or "sport" weight, as they are often recommended for baby garments. Adjust your hook size: Increasing your hook size can make your stitches looser and your project larger. You can try going up one or two hook sizes from the recommended size for your chosen yarn. Be sure to check the gauge to ensure the hat will fit properly. Measure as you go: Crochet a few rounds of the hat and measure it against a baby's head circumference to ensure it's the right size. Adjust your hook size or add/remove stitches as needed to achieve the desired fit. Consider the hat's stretch: Keep in mind that crochet fabric has some stretch to it. A slightly smaller hat that stretches to fit can be more comfortable for a baby than one that's too loose. By adjusting your hook size and following a pattern designed for the size you need, you should be able to create a beautiful and well-fitting crochet baby hat for a 3-6 month old. If you have any specific questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

I am confused about how you would make this bigger. Please could you explain how I would make this for a 1 year old? I read a previous comment that said increase by 6 rather than 12....
@AdoreCreaCrochetАй бұрын
I would add one or two more rounds with 12, increases. Keep measuring as you go to ensure it fits the head circumference for a 1-year-old, which is typically around 17-19 inches. Feel free to ask if you need more specific adjustments or tips! Happy crocheting! 😊✨

Thank you for this very easy to follow tutorial.Can I make this with two different colour yarns? How can I add the second colour?
@AdoreCreaCrochet8 ай бұрын
You're very welcome!🥰 I'm glad you found the tutorial easy to follow. Absolutely, you can make the granny square with two different color yarns for a beautiful, multicolored effect. To add the second color, simply join it at the beginning of a new round. When you reach the desired point to switch colors, drop the first color, pick up the second, and continue crocheting with the new color. You can carry the unused color along the edges, hiding it within the stitches, or cut and weave in the ends later. Have fun experimenting with colors! 😊🌈

The part that got me confused is right at the beginning. I think I keep grabbing the tail and it got caught up in the circle.
@AdoreCreaCrochet2 ай бұрын
That can definitely be tricky! It’s easy for the tail to get tangled if it’s not tucked away properly. Try securing the tail end with a stitch marker or holding it out of the way as you work the first few rounds. You might also want to leave a bit more length on the tail to make it easier to manage. I hope this helps clear up the confusion! If you need more tips, just let me know. 😊🧶

Hi mine is looking flat? Is there something I’ve done wrong ?
@AdoreCreaCrochet5 ай бұрын
If your crochet hat is looking flat instead of rounded as expected, there could be a few reasons for this: Tension: Uneven tension while crocheting can cause the fabric to lay flat instead of forming a rounded shape. Make sure you're maintaining consistent tension throughout your project. Stitch Count: Double-check that you're following the pattern instructions correctly and completing the correct number of stitches in each round. Yarn Weight and Hook Size: Using a different yarn weight or hook size than specified in the pattern can affect the size and shape of the finished hat. Make sure you're using the recommended materials for the pattern. If you've checked these factors and the hat still appears flat, examining your work closely to identify any potential mistakes or areas that may need adjustment can be helpful. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
