This is great, thank you!! So much better than pre-stringing hundreds of beads!

This is how I join even when I work a chain instead of foundation stitches. I make my chain, turn, and work my first row. Then I slip stitch my last stitch of my first row to my first stitch of my first row. Later I'll use the tail to close that little gap. I like it much better than fiddling with a chain that tends to twist!

Brilliant! Thanks so much - easy when you know how!

Oh, that looks so much easier, and easier on the yarn, than stringing a bunch of beads. A "fiddly bit" for sure, but definitely worth a try. Now to find a pattern that doesn't look like it's a 'tweens fantasy. But you say you're working on that! I'll stay tuned. :-)

In the first few beads you show, you complete a stitch, add the bead, and then make the next stitch correct? Does this then place the bead at the top of the stitch of the row you are currently on, in between the two stitches, or down at the bottom near the top/v of the previous row?

Is the steel hook called a tatting hook in still new to all these hooks I think I have one but not sure
@mooglyblog5 жыл бұрын
I don't believe so, but then again I don't know how to tat, so perhaps they are the same! I just know them as steel crochet hooks or thread crochet hooks. :)

Would this method work the same for adding a bell?
@mooglyblog7 жыл бұрын
I would think so! Like a jingle bell or bell with a metal loop to go through to "sew" it on? I think you should be able to go through there no problem! I would only caution you to make sure your yarn can stand up to that edge - a super delicate yarn or roving style yarn might break rubbing against the metal edge. But a good acrylic or sturdy wool should be fine. :)
