Hi Angela, I wish she would answer. I just wanted to ask the same. I made that other mermaid blanket with different colors and it turned out beautifully. But this pattern I want to make for my God daughter in just one color and she's turning 8 so I need a bigger one too. Greetings!

I increased the size from: (after slip stitch) to go from 50 -> 60 crochet up 3 (counts as 1), then do dc in next 3, in the 4th do two dc. Then repeat pattern. So 1 dc in 4 stitches, followed by 2 dc in the 5th stitch all the way around. (Keep count!) 60 -> 70 : After slip stitch, crochet up 3 (counts as 1), then do 1 dc in the next 4 stitch, followed by 2 dc in the 5th stitch. Follow pattern: 1 dc in next 5 stitch, then 2 dc in the 6th stitch (you're doubling in every 6th stitch).

your instructions are great, though I had to change it a bit. I added stitches to make 60 for most of the rows and still found this to not fit my Two month old, granted she is big but still. I think I would also need to add 6 more rounds to make it long enough.

Thank you for watching and for your comment! To make this a tad bigger, you could increase every few rounds by 10 stitches, similarly to how I show in the tutorial, just going along with the sequence, then increasing to the width you need it to be for the child to slide in and be comfortable and you can make it as long as you want by stopping the increase and just doing the same 2 rounds of double crochets and crocodile stitches. I hope this makes sense and you are able to make it bigger!! Enjoy!! ~Nadia
